Honda CBR250R 2012 (Facelift) EDIT: Early March launch + price-hike!

HMSI is ready to launch the face-lifted version of the popular CBR250R sports bike early in March. The 2012 CBR250R will be Rs.1500 more than its predecessor and will be available in a new colour combination.

Mr. Naresh Rattan, Vice-president, Sales and Marketing, HMSI informed that the company was due to launch the CBR250R shortly in the market. He said that the new bike has gone under production by the middle of this month.

The rest of the article can be read here.

Pointers:
  • I have heard that quality of components will be vastly improved.
  • The new color looks very good in person.
  • Some say that it is not a major update at all.
  • Dealers are told to clear existing stock to make way for the new bike.
Please give your views on the above as well as on the new color that was displayed at the expo, If you have any other info to add like specific launch date etc. Please contribute to this thread.

What has changed, except for the colour scheme?

Honda should have launched this scheme when they launched the bike (It was available internationally). Launching it as a facelift is cheap business tactics!

CBR 150R is also coming in March, right?

It is speculated that all around quality has improved, What else has changed? Time will tell. The launch is just around the corner.

This isn't any upgrade, its just a different paint scheme! Get to see quite a few in my office parking stand, but the design just fails to impress.... A good old bullet next to this, still has some lookers!

I personally did not like the new color scheme. Hope HONDA is not following HERO's approaches of "facelifts" where they just give their bikes a new color or graphics . It would be a good thing if the build quality/finish is improved. 1500 Rs is not much of a hike. I suspect it might just be the new color scheme.

re: Honda CBR250R 2012 (Facelift) EDIT: Early March launch + price-hike!

I have booked the tri-colour. Waiting for the new Ceeber.

The dealer also confirmed that there are some under the hood changes to the bike. Visually, apart from the new pain scheme, there are no other visible difference between the 2011 and 2012 versions.

Hopefully, they would have addressed the quality issues that plagued the initial batch of Ceebers.

re: Honda CBR250R 2012 (Facelift) EDIT: Early March launch + price-hike!

I got my C-ABS Red last Friday (17th). I had the choice of booking the HRC (which Honda is calling the new version) version but the deliveries would only happen in mid-March is what made me stick to the red version only. I was told by the dealer that the only difference is the color and nothing else, hence I booked this. I hope I don't repent not having waited.

re: Honda CBR250R 2012 (Facelift) EDIT: Early March launch + price-hike!

Somehow the new paint scheme does not impress me, atleast from the pics. Maybe it looks better in metal. I love the current scheme - especially the red one. Reminds me of how the R15 came out in a dual combination, which did not appeal as much as the original paint-scheme it came with.

Like someone mentioned, I hope they have done more than a paint job and taken care of the niggles seen in initial version.

Guess this is a new paint work released by Honda, not a bad deal. Would Honda be still continuing the old color scheme for people who do not like the multi color scheme?
Believe March 10th, they would start delivering the bikes in its new attire.
Courtesy: One of my friend who has booked has been promised the delivery on March 10th for the new color scheme.

INR 1500 increase confirms that it is just a color changes and believe nothing inside.

@Mahesh,
As your friend has booked now, Can you get more details about the difference.

re: Honda CBR250R 2012 (Facelift) EDIT: Early March launch + price-hike!

I'd been to the Silicon Honda showroom in Bangalore recently. The "Tri-Colour" version of the CBR with ABS is available at 2L. 3k more than the normal CBR250R with ABS. As per the people there, it was just a different paint scheme. Similar to the Deluxe Version of their Unicorn. No mention of any non-visual changes though. Besides, at 3k extra, I really do doubt that they'd incorporate any changes in the engine. Reminds me of the Limited Edition R15 which was launched a few years ago.

There seems to be a communication gap, Some say facelift some say just a new paint job. Where as all of the official sources use the term "Facelift".

Wait and watch, Id conclude!

"HMSI is phasing out the current generation of the bike from the distribution channels before trying to launch a face-lifted version."

re: Honda CBR250R 2012 (Facelift) EDIT: Early March launch + price-hike!

1500 rupees more for just a paint job? I agree the HRC colors look great, But why the hike? I bought my Black CBR250R way back in the first lot. Infact, It's the first black ABS to hit the roads of A.P. I was looking at getting the HRC colors but there were just 3 standard colors available for India where as 90% of the market globally had HRC as an option for more or less the same price.

Just visit the USA website: 2012 CBR250R Overview - Honda Powersports

There you can clearly see two versions of the bike on sale the 2011/2012 CBR, Also the latter costs around 100$ more.

I am yet to find any differences though...
