Ninja is already a CKD and fat chance that they'd start manufacturing here,

CBR is locally manufactured hence it is relatively cheaper, For hyosung to match the honda pricing they need to localise high % of parts. That seems highly unlikely.

While I see sense in saying that 'if hyosung GT250R is for 2.5L I'd rather go for a Ninja' I dont see how hyosung could lower the prices if they are using CKD.

All said and done the video above is quite old and one woule believe that Hyosung have grown since then. Lets hope the fit and finish is up to the mark for the price they are quoting also the GT250R sports the 650 chassis so that should be an advantage.

I was under the impression that it is a CBU. I distinctly remember the showroom guy mentioning its a full built up import. Perhaps I heard wrong or he was misinformed. My bad!

Re: Hysoung GT250R. Coming this May (2012)

The ZigWheels review is very neutral and in some parts very contrasting to Motorbeam's review.

According to Zig Wheels:

But one major positive change on the GT250R in contrast to the larger GT650R is the vibe-free nature of the motorcycle even at high rpm. Even when the rev counter needle bounces off the redline at 10,500rpm, the engine is free of vibrations and there are no rattles coming through from the body panels but just a rowdy non-stop throw of power thrusting forth the GT250R with piles of energy.

According to Motorbeam:

The engine also feels rough at certain points of the power band and more so at the top. Take the Hyosung GT250R past 8000 RPM and it starts to feel uneasy. This is very surprising considering peak power is produced at 10,000 RPM. As the revvs start to rise, so does the vibrations on the fairing and foot pegs.I guess we'll have to wait and watch as to what the bike actually feels like to ride in the real world.

Also, 26ps is a let down and the bike is not light either.

Re: Hysoung GT250R. Coming this May (2012)

Zigwheels expects an onroad price of 2.5 lacs (pune). Overall fit, finish and quality looks improved when compared to GT650R in pics. It looks much more expensive than it actually costs and will be a favorite bike of college going students.
I might have picked one if i was going to a college

Re: Hysoung GT250R. Coming this May (2012)

I had some hands on GT650R and it looked awesome to me specially because of the seat height which was good for my tall height, this was one bike at this range which fits the bill and now to add to the glory is the GT250R which also states to have a good seat height.
I have just bought a RE Desert storm 500 and will definitely love to add a sports bike in my kitty. will keep a close watch on Launch

Could the contrast be due to the number of Kms each test bike has run. Just noticed that the ZigWheels guys have the dual tone red-white for testing while Motorbeam's have red-black. May be the zig wheels test bike has run more number of kms or has been run-in properly while the Motorbeam's test unit was abused from the word go? Just a thought

Valid point Abhinav. I guess these bikes are tested aggressively and that could explain the difference of opinion.

I would still take these magazine reviews with a pinch of salt.

That said, I completely trust the reviews on our forum since they are a LOT more transparent and are based on an enthusiasts POV.

Ummm, the previous line of the Zig Wheels review says the exact same thing as the Motorbeam review:

The gruff Vee-twin motor is rev-happy and provides a solid grunt throughout the rev range – though at the higher end of the rev range the motor feels a bit rough giving out a throaty groan.

Re: Hysoung GT250R. Coming this May (2012)

From MotorBeam:-

Quote:
The Hyosung GT250R is priced at Rs. 2.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). DSK Motowheels is expecting to sell 3000 units a year and feels the GT250R is the talk of the town. The company also calls it a tornado on 2-wheels and all 18 showrooms will have it on display within 5 days. DSK feels Hyosung has been recongnized in India alot and they have sold more than 600 units of their 600cc bikes. The Hyosung GT250R produces 27.6 BHP of peak power at 10,000 RPM and 22.07 Nm of peak torque at 8000 RPM. Top speed is 140 km/h. Shirish Kulkarni says that the GT250R is a weekend bike and not a daily commuter, there is no brand ambassador as the bike is a star itself.
DSK is very optimistic pricing it at Rs. 2.75L. That is right in Ninja territory. Personally after this pricing, I am not sure how many will choose the GT250R over Ninja.

The wait continues for a good sporty 250cc bike. Yamaha, please don't make us wait anymore!!!!!
