Currently Army's are getting 4x4 Safari and Scorpio as Staff car, And even plans for getting Pajero for NE and border regions. But for State Cops who always has a budget problem, this is great news.

This is indeed great news. It seems that the young chief minister wants to inculcate some young blood into the force by giving them this privilege. Of course the capability of the force will increase exponentially.

Army has already inducted Pajero but in limited no's for very high ranking officers.

Yup sure about it although not seen around here but only on J&K/ LL higher roads.

Ahh Ok,I stay in a cantonment so i was wondering,so probably they are for officers serving in the higher reaches for himalayas.

The Pajero were inducted in the NE along the LAC(Sikkim,to be exact) as the Chinese personnel were using better vehicles too and Gypsy just didn't cut it.

lol, its says for "Jawans" but the usage will be as bullet-proof staff car! not a replacement for normal gypsy or 550's! I sincerely hope they get a Mahindra Axe or some Tata's Landrover based vehicle(if its out for sale!).

Back to topic, a CBR250 is cool to have in the cavalcade! I remember, the days in chennai, when the cops were given CBZ(pre-xtreme era) and the bikes were full black and riding gear was also full black. The unit was named, "Interceptor". They even got a high-tech gypsy with camera and search lights. And every other day there used to be a news in the local dailies about these interceptor chasing some culprits or traffic offenders.

I stay in Agra and the Police scene has gone very modern. We have brand new Indigos and Innovas and now CBR's. All english speaking cops.

Since I interacted with these two officers personally @The Taj Challenge - Not only the cops spoke multiple languages they were smartly attired and very courteous. Agra is making best efforts to keep its tourism industry well oiled.

Cops in Bhubaneswar use FZ-16 as patrol bikes which I think is a definite improvement.
Also I saw an old Hyundai Accent as a patrol vehicle in Chennai on my recent visit. Saw no more. Is it an one-off vehicle?
