Reclaiming the Life of my RX 135

Well this was a project for building my bike back to as close as possible to stock with some exceptions.

I started the restoration around a month or so back with the help of my mechanic and we have progressed some bit in terms of the output we were looking for.

The bike has been stripped and the paint scheme is going to be stock RX 135 (black).

Please feel free to suggest or recommend what all can be done to make it a complete stock bike only looks wise.

There was a long list of things which was penned down to be changed to achieve a good restoration in terms of looks.

1. Striping the bike to bare metal
2. Painting the chasis + Engine to Black paint (Dupont)
3. Painting the Tank and Side panels to Black (RXG 5 speed) - Dupont
4. RXG 5 Speed stickering before the primer coat.
5. Headlight change to 5 Speed one
6. Center Ignition switch to change to RXZ one with the meter plates.
7. White dial meters for RXG 5 speed to be installed.
8. Still thinking on chroming the Chamber or powder coat it and just chrome the stinger part.
9. Stock 5 speed switches
10. Handle bars - need to choose from Stock to RDs or something else which will look good
11. Change to front end to Pulsar disc break - it requires the front right fork leg to be changed to that of Pulsar.
12. Get the stock Footrests
13. Get the tank cleaned completely.
14. Change the seat to stock
15. Change the rear mudguard to stock including the tail light assembly pieces.
16. Adding the RXG carrier + Grab Rail
17. Changing the rear shockers - suggestion required which ones are good Bajaj Discover /SNS types or the stock Gabriel ones.
18. Changing all the nuts and bolts on the bike to new ones.
19. Rechroming the wheels and spokes or change them completely.
20. Changing the wiring harness..its good but still since most of the things are changing so thought about redoing the wiring completely.
21. Adding the stock indicators.
22. Changing the front mudguard to either stock / RXZ plastic one / Custom fabricate one with shorter length like cafe racer.

First the previous pics of the bike.

Followed by the current Pics of the bike while work still in progress.

Re: Reclaiming the Life of my RX 135

Is the RPM meter of the RXZ working? If yes, how have you got it work? Was the bike fitted with petal discs of RTR earlier? Any problem with that set up? Are you going to stick to the same silencer or get the OEM 5 speed one? I have a very bad experience of getting the silencer and rims chromed. They started to peel off in a month. I would suggest to paint them matt back or buy a new set. Change the rear shockers or paint them black.

If I am not wrong, that isn't an OEM silencer, its a chamber sir.

@The Great: Sorry that was a typo. Corrected the same. I know its not OEM. I wanted to ask if he is going to change it to the OEM.

There are couple of things which are in work at the moment currently.

Things which include are as follows.

Getting the rear shockers changed to Gabriel
Painting the head to match the engine color
Changing to new set of footrest rubber
Competing the wiring
Making the rpm meter work.

Yes the previous setup had the petal disc setup, infact I was running the complete Apache front end including the complete shocker which are thicker than the stock ones.

It was working fine but, I somehow wanted a more stock look, hence moved to this setup where the complete front end has been changed to Pulsar's.

There are no plans to move to the stock silencer, I think no one would after experiencing a good chamber.

Re: Reclaiming the Life of my RX 135

There are no issues with it but as I stated above I want a more closer look with stock so will add the Gabriel/Escorts shocks to the bike.

Re: Reclaiming the Life of my RX 135

Had completely forgotten about this thread, anyways the bike is hoot to ride, its a different story that I barely get the time to ride it.

A short vdo which was shot recently during one of the jetting sessions.

Re: Reclaiming the Life of my RX 135

As luck would have it, I recently got an opportunity to pen down my journey into 2 strokes bikes i.e. how I got hooked to 2 strokes and how I ended up getting a ride for myself and enjoying it. These are a series of article which will walk one through my journey into 2 stroke bikes in a fun way, hope you all like it.
