sirji,
vespa plant is just 3 km away from my factory,
and right now while typing this line, my folks are at vespa store!

@footrest, matting and side stand, as the scooter is projected as life style product, they must fit all those necessary parts/ accessories as per need of Indian customers as standard equipment.

Vespa has always been targeted for a man and a woman since its birth. Some of the famous personalities who own modern Vespa are as below:
- Steven Spielberg
- Jay Leno
- Jerry Seinfeld
- Matt Damon
- Owen Wilson
- Jude Law
- Ashton Kiutcher
- Chris Martin (of Cold play)
- James Galdolfini
- Leonardo Di Caprio
- Robert Di Niro
- Mathew Broderick
- Julia Roberts
- Gweyneth Palthrow
- Kylie Minogue
- Jennifer Lopez
Hence a Vespa is just not meant for a nifty youngish looking girl !!!

Re: My Vespa LX 125 "Yellow Wasp" - Italian Art In Motion

Sir, you seem to be a die hard fan of Italian designs. Excellent collection of old Vespas you got. Congrats on the new ride.

For the common man like me, could you please let us know the drive, drink and reliability of the new 125 vs the Honda Activa. The Activa is no bad a design, having a time-tested robust engine. But no one can match Italian curves, colors and spacial management. If you could lay hands on an Activa, do let us know the comparison too. I have seen one white 125 recently and felt it a bit smaller compared to other scooteretts. Was wondering then how a heavy pillion will affect the ride.

When you move on to new tires, personally, I would love to see the white tire wall reduced some diameter, as in Naomi Watts' Vespa

Wow those are some really beautiful colours. I especially liked the cream colour with red shocks owned by Naomi Watts and the icy blue ridden by Jay Kay....not to mention the split tan seats rock !!!

I wish Vespa India offers these colours on the LX125

Re: My Vespa LX 125 "Yellow Wasp" - Italian Art In Motion

Congrats Ram. The new Vespa looks awesome. So does the complete collection of yours. You are indeed doing a great job maintaining those.

As for the localization, this is what the Vespa website says
(vespaindia.com/pdf/media/Docpdf6.doc)
Quote:
" For Mr Ravi Chopra, Chairman and Managing Director, Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (India), and his team, it was indeed a very gratifying moment. The integrated vehicle and engine plant has been completed in record time of 12 months from concept to commissioning and start of production. Beaming with joy he said, “Today is a historical moment for us as Piaggio begins a new chapter of growth in India. The world recognized iconic Vespa will now be produced in Baramati”. He was happy to state further, that “the operations started with a 100% localisation of components. This was in tune with the Piaggio strategy.”
"
So the new Vespa you have is 100% made in India, still 100% designed in Italy.

Thanks Rana. This is the most common question that I have been encountering since my acquisition of LX 125.
Vespa LX 125 generates 10 BHP,which is highest among its class and has a top speed of 90kmph.Needless to say these give an amazing pick up / acceleration and simply surges ahead like a missile.Even with a pillion rider, the pick up and acceleration is very good and stable. These are my experiances.

Re: My Vespa LX 125 "Yellow Wasp" - Italian Art In Motion

Time came for the 1st Servicing - 1 month from the date of purchase of my Yellow Wasp.
I was supposed to receive a reminder call from the Vespa CRM,as promised during the Sale of the scooter, but unfortunatly this did not happen.I really didnt mind,as the initial niggles are always there for a newly launched vehicle in India. So i called Smart Vespa Service Manager and fixed an appointment to get my Yellow Wasp serviced.
When i reached the Service Centre,I was simply amazed by the set up.It was like a some Assembly plant in a factory with Hydraulic Servicing Bays,Engine Overhauling Room,Battery Charging Room,Washing area and nice customer waiting lounge (though no A/C).
The 1st 1 Month servicing called for just Engine oil change and checking brakes, electronics, minot settings etc.
My Wasp was first given a thorough pressue water wash and a air blow drying followed by a quick lift on the ramp to check the underbody and change of oil.Brakes were adjusted slightly and so was the idling speed.
When i reported my Fuel consumption to be around 45kml,it was suggested that the carburattor settings will be teaked at the next servcing as the engine has not fully opened up due to coverage of just over 200kms on the odometre !!!
The whole servicing last close 90 minutes and the technical staff knew their job very well.
In the end wasI was produced a bill of Rs.197 towards 700ml of Petronas Engine Oil that was replaced in the Wasp.
After a dash of polish thrown as a complimentary from Vespa I went on a quick ride around ORR and was pleased at the performence. The improvements:
- Braking seems to be much better.
- Pick up has improved
- Engine revs are more peppier and smooth.

I was promised a FE of 60kmpl in the coming months, though I dont believe this will happen.I might max touch 50kmpl in my reckoning.
At the end the service manager apologised for missing to send the reminder for 1st servicing, actually it turned out that they got my mobile number wrong. All the corrections were made in the system infront of me,so that the next servcing call wont be missed.
Three Cheers to Vespa India and Smart Auto for such a lovely experiance.

Hi Hillram, could you please share the source for the whitewall inserts? I have bought a Vespa, and I think the whitewalls have a killer effect.

Re: My Vespa LX 125 "Yellow Wasp" - Italian Art In Motion

Today i visited the Vespa Showroom as I got a call asking me to come and check out the new accessories received from Vespa India..namely:
- Steel Mudguard Guards
- Footrest
- Foot pegs for rear passenger.

I was told that the Footrest and Foot pegs(shown in the below pic) are still in pilot stage and no pricing is available.
After market non-branded Footrest (same as Activa) was available for Rs.900.
I somehow felt the Steel Guards and Footrest could spoil the cool looks of LX 125,but from an utility point of view, footrest is good. What i liked is the chunky Vespa Logo on the Footrest..just like the retro Vespa 150 !!!

WOW! I am truly amazed at the collection you have. I like the LX 125 so much that I just contacted the dealer in Chennai for purchasing a Vespa for my better half.

A very good thought.Vespa will be releasing 2 more colours in October - Orange and Pink mainly to cater for ladies taste.
LX 125 is truly a performence vehicle from Vespa and you wont regret purchasing one for your better half.
Good Luck.
