hi!, is it possible to install turbo-charger in honda unicorn engine to increase it's BHP. i know that turbo-chargers are used to increase BHP of engine, but ......how , if it's possible then list some manufacturer as well tuning specialist who can perform this type of work. location is of no concern as well as money.

one more question : racing engine oil can be used in normal commuters bikes like unicorn , if so then also list some best ( note :-> BEST...) 4-stroke engine oil ( RACING....)for honda unicorn

the prob is that u just cant find a turbo that small for an application on the uni which is just 150cc...teh smallest turbos by garett are for 500cc machines. of course u can get one for the lawn movers which still would be bigger. i have a pal who works on turbo designs and according to him, we just dont have such an option now..dont worry, u can expect a supercharger soon. there is a thread already on xbhp and we are working on it.

Finding a turbo that small is going to be really tough.

Joel, what about go-cart engines? I think abroad they run turbo'd motors.

can i use castrol R4 superbike engine oil for my honda unicorn?

1. Would it be worth? I mean $$$ wise?

My two cents.

I doubt if you can get one. Will a 150cc provide enough boost from the exhaust gases to rotate the turbocharger?! Seems as if the turbochager would in fact be a unnecessary resistance to the engine.

The engine should be large enough IMO.

Dev,

Best method to try a free flow exhaust from Proton, KRP etc. It will increase the back pressure to give you better power.

Yes it can, IF one is designed to work for a 150cc engine. At the moment, we are not able to find a turbocharger for a 150cc engine. Hence, the plan to supercharge bikes.

Any turbo charger is a resistance to the flow of exhaust gases. But the cons of having a turbocharger negate the the loss due to the "resistance".

The exhaust gases are just not powerful enough to turn a turbocharger, even if a turbocharger was designed for a 150cc bike, I doubt if it could get a significant increase in power.

Which is why, as you said, such small engines are supercharged.

Gordon, I think if one did design a turbo for a 150cc, the turbo probably wouldn't start spooling till a very high rpm, like about 8000 rpm on a Unicorn or Pulsar.

I searched a lot and we just could not find a turbo small enuff for our puny engines. The least bet would be a 500cc coz atleast then the exhaust gases can give enuff thrust to run the turbo…so anyday the supercharger WILL work. Also a turbo even if we found one, if installed will have a huge turbo lag coz if will start kicking in only after much higher rpms and that’s damn irritating. The best part about SC here is that power will kick-in righto after idle….signal to signal rides will be fun too and highway overtaking will be awesome. However the worst enemy of SC is de-acceleration……engine braking will be almost nil coz the rotors will still keep feeding the engine as its crank driven…Anyways, its just a matter of time to see that on our first prototype fiero200.

Hi guys,I am new to this site. But have been posting regularly on XBHP.I have modded a fiero to a V-twin.Presently working on a super charger for the fiero. And modify it to fit all other bikes once successfull.Other of my projects are having modded fieros to 195 cc.which are incidently faster than karizmas.
