Oh god, finally some concrete news with proof!
Now only if someone could tell me if the special edition would be making its way to India, I really love the way the SE looks and according to riders, ABS is only available in the Special Edition.
Hope they don't give us lame excuses about spare parts availability and restrict us to only Green like the N650R.

The launch of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 (by Bajaj) seems to be around the corner with numerous sightings of this Sportsbike. Motorcycle websites have posted pictures of the green Kawasaki in Pune.

The Ninja 250R had a promising start in India. However, the twin faced increasing competition from Bajaj’s stable itself; the KTM Duke 200 & Pulsar 200NS, along with the Honda CBR 250R, have eaten into the 250cc Ninja’s sales. They were also significantly better priced. Although the Ninja 250R was quite a performer, customers found more value in the other bikes at lower price points. The launch of the Ninja 300 might help Kawasaki distance itself from the current crop of 200-250cc motorcycle. The higher cubic capacity could hit the sweet spot in terms of the price-to-performance ratio.

What's new:

1. Reworked body language and a new frame. Looks more edgy than before.
2. 296cc parallel twin engine with a 6-speed transmission.
3. The Ninja 300 is expected to churn out 39 BHP @ 11,000 RPM. However, we'll wait for exact figures post launch.
4. ABS to be available as an option.
5. The meter console is in line with current tastes and has an analogue tachometer + digital speedometer.
6. A better digital fuel-injection system that is supposed to be more efficient.
7. F.C.C. clutch with assist & slipper functions.
8. 10-spoke 17" alloy wheels with a 140 section rear tyre.
9. Curved 2-into-1 exhaust system.
10. Revised suspension setup.

All details mentioned above have been sourced from Kawasaki's website. Most of it is expected to remain the same on the bike sold in India.

Pre-launch bookings are rumoured to have already begun, with ex-showroom prices for the N300 (non-ABS) at 3.2 Lakhs and the N300 with ABS at 3.4 Lakhs. Do note that this pricing is entirely speculative.

• The 2013 Ninja 250R will be powered by an all new 249 cc, 4-stroke, fuel-injected, liquid cooled parallel twin engine pumping out 31.5 BHP at 8500 RPM mark, which is slightly less than the older baby Ninja that gave around 33 BHP at 11000 RPM

Should be since they are not taking of 250's booking anymore. I hope they do keep it at 3lac max since Duke 390 at 2.25-2.5 will lure more riders to KTM.

Its confirmed now Ninja 300 is being launched on 10th Apr and KTM 390 would come out in mid may. This is what the guys at Probiking Chandigarh told me. Also two colours are available White and Green. Sorry no ABS or Spl Edn for India presently.Any way booked my green 300 today. Hope to get delivery by Apr end.

According to the announcement by the showroom in Kolkata, the ex-showroom and on-road prices are 3.53L and 3.96L respectively.

That's probably the highest retail price in the country.

IIRC, the 250R touched the 3.47L mark just before it was pulled off the shelves.
