re: Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

So the specs seem to be final now. It will be a 373 cc engine with 35 HP, which is perfectly Ok (compared to the 43.5 of the 390 Duke).

Hope the Peak Torque is more than the 35 Nm that the KTM 390 develops.. hope its around 40 Nm

Also most probably the CS/VS 400 would weigh around 180 kgs (kerb) compared to the 154 kgs of the KTM 390 Duke.. therefore more Torque would be desirable.

Excited times near

Is there any word on the top speed that this bike can achieve? Speculations say it's 160+ kmph. But I guess it's just a guess by looking at the power figures. I hope the top speed does not get capped like in BMW G310R.

Stress Free Cruising at 120-130 kph is more than enough bro.. pointless to go after top speed.

Has no-one noticed the figure in the bottom right corner of the last photo?
It reads 332 Kg and I am fumbled after reading that.
What does that figure signify? Gross weight?

Gross weight includes all fluids + 2 riders so 332 kg sounds right.

Kerb Weight of the vehicle (sans rider + pillion) could be 170-180 kgs..

which would be actually desirable on a long distance cruiser .. provided the Torque is healthy

Is it me or did somebody else notice that front side profile looks like a Bajaj V?

With no sign of G310r and 2017KTMs, this is going to sell like hot cakes among mid segment bikers. Lets see how bajaj plays this one out.

Does not matter if BMW or KTMs are out or not. This is going to sell like hot cakes, because many people like me desire a good VFM bike. KTMs are too much, specially the ones that we get in India.

As with any Bajaj, it is better to wait for 6 - 8 months before purchasing this. Initial niggles will be ironed out. Better wait than be a guinea pig!

Yes it looks like V. Bajaj revealed that there will be more bikes in V series lineup and it's no surprise that it has been named as VS400.

re: Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

A very reliable source told me that the VS400 launch is scheduled in August/early september 2016.
Weight would be approximately 30 kgs more than the D390 and power/torque figures would be lesser in comparison.

It would have variants - ABS/Non ABS and may be with different tyres. The prices would be in the ballpark of 1.6L inr ex-showroom.

re: Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

If this bike can give compared to KTM Duke 390:

1) Better seating position (Little less back swept foot pegs, More taller handlebar)
2) Be more spacious
3) Soft suspension
4) Better padded seat
5) More points to pack luggage
6) Cheaper parts
7) Sufficient acceleration for average person to go crazy
8) ABS
9) Sufficiently grippy tyres and not as costly as Metzler.
10) Cheaper maintenance
11) Heats up less in traffic conditions
12) Better fuel efficiency

Then this is the bike to go for considering an overall perspective of a low end tourer which is bang for buck.

Its actually true for ANY BRAND. No matter how big the brand is, there will be initial teething issues.

In my opinion, it best to wait for 2 years post any new model launch so that the initial issues are identified, rectified and implemented/redesigned. After 2 years one can expect to get a nearly niggle free product (from ANY BRAND).
