Next Gen Bajaj Pulsars - SS400 & CS400 (rechristened as Dominar)

Mod Note: Our Dominar 400 report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion on the new thread. Thanks!

Hi,

I just read the news on zigwheels about the new pulsar stated to be released in 2013. Details in the link below:
http://www.autocarindia.com/News/317...n-the-way.aspx

Excerpt:
It’s still a fair while away, but India’s most famous mass market sportsbike is getting set to become a true ‘big-single’ with Bajaj Auto’s dynamic Managing Director, Rajiv Bajaj having confirmed his R&D team (Ahead) are hard at work developing a 375cc Pulsar that will debut in 2013.

There were strong rumors about KTM 390 hitting Indian shores later this year. I think looking at the KTM DUKE 200 / Bajaj 200NS model, we can expect these 2 bikes to come into the market around the same time.

Bike lovers would be spoiled for choices if these 2 bikes hit the market with Ninja 300 around the corner.

Good times ahead for us bikers...

Check the below thread. Hope this time it is not a rumor.

Now Bajaj should come up with multi cylinder Bike.

This seems to be exciting, i already own a P220 and till date she has never disappointed me. The P375 if it is a reality would be just awesome and fun to drive with all that power.

SCOOP! Picture of new sub 390 cc Bajaj Pulsar

A photograph of Bajaj's biggest Pulsar yet has appeared on autocarindia.com. This will be an all new Pulsar. The launch is scheduled for later this year. The images shows a mature looking design that will come with a sub 390 cc engine.

Bajaj is at present getting ready for the launch of the KTM 390 Duke. Expect the new bike to be priced competitively for the performance on offer. This is something that Bajaj has shown it is capable of doing time and time again.

As per the report, the new Pulsar would feature the following:
  • The new motorcycle will share its engine with the KTM 390 (engine capacity would be different though).
  • Liquid cooled motor to put out around 45 BHP.
  • Close ratio 6 speed gearbox.
  • Top speed in excess of 150 KMPH.
  • Beefy telescopic front shocks.
  • Single front and rear disc brakes and ABS optional (likely).
  • LED Indicators and Pilot lights.

If this is the real deal, then the new bajaj is heavily inspired (read:copied) from an Italian electric motorcyle concept : Energica

Good to see Bajaj going the full fairing way instead of a naked sport version like Duke 390.
Kudos to Bajaj for daring to do this. Kudos for making right investment in KTM and making full use of it. Even without Kawasaki they have survived and excelled. On the other hand same cannot be said of Hero Moto corp. With Honda out of partnership they really don't have good technical partnership. I am sckeptical about its collabaration with Buell. Buell has totally different product list. Not sure if Hero can dare to launch anything north of Karizma on its own.

Mate,
Off Topic, you forgot about the number of spark plugs. So they went from 3 to 4 for this 375

LOL. With Duke 390 launch round the corner lets wait and watch how the new pulsar pans out. The images leaked do not look like genuine stuff. The color scheme is a bit off and may be of a body kit for a 220.

Lets wait and watch

These amateurish pics have been floating around for quite some time. Personally, I feel these are the jobs of some local workshop. Doesn't seem to have the fit and finish of a quality product.
A couple of designs seems horrendous!!

I hope they price this well, just like the NS. Could be one monster of a bike that's gonna surely eat into the sales of CBR's.

I don't think so. The pics maybe amateurish, but they seem to impart the real deal.

All of them are the same and point to ONE design only.

Let me rephrase my statement then, the third pic showing the yellow design looks horrendous. Mayb its cuz the whole bike is not in the frame, the focus here is just on the front lamps and fairing.
Reminds me of the old Fazer headlamps.
