SCOOP :: CPI Brutale 250 Spotted Testing

This image popped up on the internet today and it seems Yamaha is testing either the R125 or the much anticipated 250cc bike.

re: SCOOP :: CPI Brutale 250 Spotted Testing

I'd love to be proven wrong, but this definitely looks like an R125. The alloys, tail-lights, left mounted front disc all point towards the same. Where was this spotted? Are you sure it was spotted in India, because this isn't even properly camouflaged. Unless of course the launch date is very very near and they want publicity.

As a matter of fact, this color scheme existed in their European line-up until last year. Which is why I'm almost certain that this is a production version of the R125.

This is the CPI Brutale 250. Even i thought it was an R125 or 250 but few posts in facebook confirmed it to be a different motorcycle. This company is based out of Phillippines. Here are some pics

Holy Cow!!

They have simply traced the lines of the R125! Changed the mirrors, added a grabrail, lifted the brand name off an Italian marque and voila! You have a 250cc motorcycle with 16BHP on tap.

Thanks for the info though. The last time I was this shocked was when I saw pics of the Chinese Gulsar.

Not a bad looking bike at all! But the engine tuning seems very poor. Just 16 BHP out of a 250 CC engine ? Even if this bike is priced sensibly, I don't see it having too many takers.

The Indian biking scene is maturing up, and a lot of people have actually started looking a lot more at performance than just mileage, which is why we have some nice bikes on sale here

Never heard of this brand, interesting to follow this bike if at all they launch in India. If they offer it at good price matched with quality/finish and performance they might succeed in wooing away customers from CBR. But I guess off late the 250 Segment is somewhat saturated. Majority of the public's eyes will be on KTM 390

Re: SCOOP :: CPI Brutale 250 Spotted Testing

Doesn't look like this bike has much of a chance here in india. One, its definitely going to be priced above a lakh and a half (which 250 isnt?, plus its mostly going to come as a CBU). The price will make people research it, and when they find out it hardly has any power for its size and price, they will dump it. The R15 with its 150cc produces 16.8 bhp. This is a joke. The test rides will send off more people with the bullock cart performance. Even if it's priced well, the "made in china" tag(or Philippines) drives away everybody, the main reason Hyosungs haven't done so well here.

The rears are getting higher and higher up I see. Sad to see more and more less practical bikes are coming in the circuit. In India bikes are more used to commute than to race isn't it ?

Re: SCOOP :: CPI Brutale 250 Spotted Testing

Hello,

Apologies if this sounds like an unfair rant.....

There is one thing I don't understand. Why does the Indian car \ motorcycle buyer have to deal with lazily conceptualised products all the time? What were the company thinking in this case? We'll just make a racy looking bike, plonk in a sleepy engine, overprice it and sell it to the fools they call the "Indian market"?

I feel this attitude in so many products. Why did Yamaha not sell the R15 in it's current avataar to begin with? Did they think they were doing us a favour by coming out with a 150cc sportsbike with a thin rear tyre and price it above INR 1 lakh ie. the R15 V1.0? thankfully the R15 v1.0 was a great bike to ride. But if I'm spending above INR 1 lakh on a bike, it had better look like it as well.

The CBR250R could have been a replica of the CBR600RR in my opinion, just as the R15 and the current ninja 300 are of the R6 and the ZX10R respectively. But instead of a baby "Ceeber", they gave us a baby "Veefer".

I really feel it has more to do with the "jee huzoor" culture prevalent in corporate India. Nobody has the guts to frankly put forth their points to their seniors in these companies. I'm sure that the highly qualified staff at these companies know when they see a bad design or concept. But the fear of upsetting the boss overrides everything. I have to mention the Zen Estillo as another example even though this is the motorcycle forum. The Estillo made people miss the old zen more. The A-star, I felt, would have been a more fitting successor to the Zen.

The above are only my 2 bits. Points of view from the more experienced \ informed members are welcome...
