Restoration: ’78 Yezdi Classic B Type

Another restoration in the cards, look like we are having a bikes year, as per our petrol head calendar!!!

This restoration is completely done by my younger brother from ground up so all the credits go to him. I’m just penning it down as gratitude towards him.

We picked up this 1978 model B type cult a year back, the vehicle was in a good drivable condition with all rattles from the handle bar to the tail lamp.
Pic of the bike as we got it. (Do not have original pics of how it was before stripping the vehicle, have some from the net that matches exactly how it was)

Final this May, upon the return of my younger brother Akshy from his collage we thought it’s the right time for another project. Parallel we have a Willys getting restored.

We wanted to restore this bike from ground up in our own yard. We have tools, it’s just we needed the time and hands in completing it.
Before the pics start flowing in, Intro pics of the other bikes that we own/restored

Now some pics of the restoration, we are doing it in our free time at our own garage in Coorg, So the pace is quite slow and steady.

We stripped the vehicle and started off with the paint process, by grinding the complete body panels to bare metal and then a primer coat is applied.

The engine is down, no pics of this yet. The engine is standard bore (.65 mm pistons). The rings got broken, so need to replace that, few gears are worn out, will be overhauling the GB once we procure the gears.

Before primer what did you do for rust? Sand blasting?

Sudev ji - Before Primer, we had to grind off all the paint from the body panels using a grinding brass wheel. No sand blasting available here!!!

(rattled all bones of our bodies)

Re: Restoration: ’78 Yezdi Classic B Type

Update on this was pending for a very long time!!! I used to tell my brother to update the thread regularly, but what say , he was busy with the bike all the time.

To say, I'm not bragging but fro the effort that he has put in The bike has come out really great. NOTE ALL THE PAINTING AND HANDLING WAS DONE AT HOME.

We got a set of new tires + Got all the steel parts electroplated.

Seriously after viewing the bike after assembly for the first time I was awestruck . I never expected the bike to come out so good and BTW he had also done the pin stripping.

yest to wash the bike and get some seats, until then here are the pics

KUDOS to my Brother
