H1 will last about 15000kms depending on riding style. It will last longer if you are gradual with your throttle.

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Hey guys, need some help with my Duke 390 BS4 (2020) ABS failure issue. The bike's done around 22,500 km in about 4 years. Last year, at around 22,400 km, I started having ABS issues while riding in the city. After visiting multiple authorized KTM service centers and private garages with no luck, they finally told me the ABS pump had failed, which honestly sounded pretty absurd to me since I’ve really taken care of the bike.

After a lot of back and forth, I decided to replace the ABS motor pump and had it installed at a trusted private garage. During the process, they found that the rear ABS ring was bent, so they hammered it back into shape. Once everything was back together, the bike started showing the odometer reading which previously showed "--" before and the fuel range seemed more accurate too. But of course, right after that, the ABS failure warning popped up again on the TFT.

I was really frustrated after spending so much time and money on this. Both the service center and the private garage ran diagnostics, but they couldn’t find any error codes. However, when I ran my own diagnostics using a Garage Pro tool, I got these two error codes: C1100 MIL Status: Yes and U2924 MIL Status: No.

Now, I’m completely stuck, and neither the service center nor the garage has a clue what’s going on. Has anyone dealt with these codes before or know what might be causing this? Any help would be much appreciated!

The C1100 as per my understanding a C1100 trouble code means that the vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU) has registered an unspecified circuit failure in the Antilock Braking System's pump switch circuit.

A faulty ABS pump, sensor and/or control unit could explain the failed ABS circuit. It may also be caused by a problem with the wiring and electrical connectors. Improper wiring or corroded, damaged and otherwise faulty circuitry may be to blame for this circuit failure. In some rare cases, the ECU itself may be faulty, mistakenly reporting the trouble code as a result. Due to the rareness of this cause, it should only be considered once all other plausible causes have been exhausted.

Check your ABS sensor(s) itself, for corrosion, dust accumulation etc, clean the sensors, especially the connectors, ABS unit module connector pins, and I'm hoping the ABS unit is installed is of the correct model specific one, and simply replace the ABS reluctor/pulse ring and never hammer them, once they are bent it's better to replace them.

Good luck, and I hope it solves your issue.

Keep us posted.

Cheers!

Sure VJ! Can’t complain about the ABS unit since it’s brand new. I’ll start by checking the wiring terminals and replacing the pulse rings by the end of this week.

Hey everyone!! This is my first time posting on Team BHP. I've been an active follower of the community since 2012. Back then I was still in school but it was always so inspiring to watch this community flourish and help each other out.
Congrats on your new steed for many miles.
If I'm not wrong the visor is from motocare.

Ppf works great. You'll need a little to no everyday. Just a wipe with cloth makes the bike shiny most of the time. And if you prepare the glossy look, the ppf can Change Matt look to glossy one like mine.
And regarding accessories from grandpitstop and motocare have you tried anything for Duke gen 3 or you're telling from your old experience.
If can elaborate it can help us fellow owners. Thank you.

Hello BHPians and Duke 390 Owners!

Very excited to be a part of this thread and to hopefully contribute to this thread in the future as i have booked my very own KTM Duke 390 Gen 3 in the blue colour.

I would be very grateful if a few of you could share some references on where i could get some essential accessories for the bike that gets delivered in a few days from today.

Looking to get: Knuckleguards, Windscreen, Phone Mount and Fork Sliders etc.

Thanks in advance!

First and foremost, get yourself proper riding gear, i.e. good quality helmet, good quality riding glove and a jacket.

Secondly, for the bike:
First and foremost, swingarm spools, along with a good paddock stand. Because a paddock stand makes life easier, helps lubing the chain, moreover helps park the bike in level surface, trust me, the difference a paddock makes in one's motorcycling life is insurmountable.

Secondly, a good quality aux light setup, considering if you're doing more midnight runs and highway duties. Strongly recommend.

Thirdly, a good quality bigger visor, helps reduce wind buffeting doing those highway runs. These are the mandatory essentials I'd term that makes the ride more enjoyable.

Rest and everything in the middle purely comes down to factor over form, for which there are accessories aplenty.

Congratulations once again, and ride safe!

Cheers!

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Thank you, VJ!

A quick intro about my biking history, i had a Duke 200 which was my dad’s and i rode it briefly before moving onto an Interceptor 650 which i have sold as of yesterday.

I had the opportunity to ride a Gen 3 Duke 390 when my friend had rented one back in October and we ended up swapping our motorcycles for about 2 weeks and that’s when i fell in love with the Duke platform again.

And gear wise, I have always ensured I wear ECE/DOT (and ISI) rated helmets along with Rynox Gear.

The visor has been a big challenge to understand where to get from. Looking at the thread where Moto Torque ones seem to fail and Primo Customs somehow does not seem too confidence inspiring, i’m not sure what that leaves me with.

Kyber Moto has been a brand on my radar. Any feedback on that particular brand? Or you can let me know which one you are using.

Also please do share where could I buy the spools from.

Thanks and Safe Riding!

I bought a windshield from Kybermoto for my gen 3 Duke 390. It's not worth it. Doesn't do its job of effectively stopping the wind blast. It wobbles at high speeds and the bolts rusted in a month.

I got the full black visor for my gen 3 from Moto Care. It has an MTC logo embossed in the front bottom side. Most other websites sell the same piece in different prices to my knowledge.

My experience with this shield for the last 6 months has been very good. The fit was sturdy, the hardware given was sufficient and I've done long highway runs with average speeds of around 110-120kmph on the highways. 6 months in and there are no vibrations or fastening issues so far.

Seems solid and for the price, it performs well.

Would recommend spools from these guys. Also, if you're in Mumbai, most motorcycle/superbike accessory shops sell aplenty of spools, from varied brands to choose from. Plus, you can get it installed within 10 minutes. Perhaps a day of hunting around the streets of Mumbai shall definitely yield more than accessories for your motorcycle.

Good luck.

Installed FuelX lite on my bike recently in the hope the terrible low rpm fueling is improved.
There is definitely some improvement but it's not night and day.

I spent 6.5k for the unit. I haven't made up my mind yet if it has been value for money!

Oh dear! That's terribly flaked, I'm surprised your motorcycle
has given you the deserving happiness albeit being in such state. A recommendation if I may, sandblast all the casing and get it repainted, trust me it'll make a ton of improvement over and above the engine work being carried. Your current mechanic should help you with the same.

The results aren't palpable immediately, but definitely after a while, where it works is by subtly playing around the O2 values. This results in better engine temperature management and fueling especially on highways. The low end hunting that our (old) Dukes were known for is mostly ironed out, and one can observe the same in idling and mid range coasting.

The module learns as you go. Our old engines will definitely thank in the long term. Remember though, this isn't a performance mod per se, this is where people get confused. It's simply a stabilizer of sorts, as you'd for your electronic/electrical appliances. It gives you peace of mind knowing things are in good nick for a while to come.

Hopefully it helped.

Cheers!
