Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Gen 3 D390 Owners Alert! (MY 2024 & early 2025)

Cruise control can now be added to pre OBD-2B MY 2024 and early 2025 Gen 3 Duke 390s.

I have already posted this in another Team-bhp thread (2024 Duke 390 review thread), but posting here again as this is the main thread for D390 people.

I got my D390 in Jan this year without the cc. When the updated model with cc was launched, I started to dig and DIY to ascertain if the cc can be installed and activated in the old models. Found a hidden '4 pin' socket behind the headlight assembly. The socket itself was plugged off by a dummy cap. That hidden socket is already present in all our bikes but is utilised in the newer models.

So I got myself a new cc combination switch. The cc combination switch has one extra '4 pin' socket which plugs into this hidden socket. I installed the cc combination switch and it fit perfectly. The new socket fit perfectly too!

Went to service centre to check if it works. (This was before the software update became available). It worked. Confirmed this through live parameters page on their OBD tool.

Software update became available two weeks ago.
New TFT version- 1V13
New EMS Hex file version number- 8101 (last four digits of hex file version number)

Cruise control now works flawlessly and custom switch was activated too.

This update is available through KTM Sanpada and KTM Thane service centres in Mumbai region. I don't know if other Mumbai service centres have got the technical bulletin for this update yet or not.

Socket photos are screenshots of a YouTube vlog. Some guy was installing HJG fog lights on his bike, that's how I discovered the presence of the hidden socket.

Happy riding!

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

This makes perfect sense. Last year when I visited KTM showroom, the sales executive upfront told me that KTM has provides plugs for after market light (No wire cutting or plug manipulation needed) and that cruise control will also be available. He also told me that KTM will bring 20mm seat height adjusters for D390.

Anyway, kudos to CC. It's a nice feature to have, and happy more miles to you!

Re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

Just wanted to confirm that it can be fitted on Duke 390 purchased in Aug 2024?

Also does KTM Sanpada or Thane service center has the hardware as well? I mean to ask, can I go to them and ask to retrofit the cruise control system end to end?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it can be fitted and activated in D390 purchased in Aug previous year. They may or may not have the new part required, New combination switch L (cc). If they don't, you can place an order with them for the switch. Once it arrives, the whole process i.e the new part fitment and software update will take around 1.5 hours.

I'll share a picture of how the hidden socket looked like when I found it on my bike.

Can you share the total cost of doing this?

Hi there!
Apologies for the non 390 Duke post, do you know if this can be done for the MY 2024 Svartpilen 401 too? It does not have the IMU and ride modes but the rest seems to be a reskinned version of the 390's gauge cluster.
This bike has a very strong engine braking character so I'd love to have cruise control on long journeys.
Thanks for the detailed post!
