One point I was confused about with their power\torque charts though is why their stock figures are cut off at around 8800 - 9200 RPM? Doesn't the stock bike redline at around 10,500 RPM? Shouldn't a dyno be able to measure all the way upto this point?

Well that's where the stock cut off and that's where the drop happens and no it does not redline at 10,500.

The bike tested happens to be mine and the charts are accurate as I was there when the dyno pulls were being done and have had it on my bike for a couple of months now.

I'm pretty sure mine has the limiter kick in at 10.5. Is there a difference between redline and a rev limiter?

Well I am quite sure mine cuts in at 8500 and have unsuccessfully requested the dealership to extend it.

The RPM cut off is at 10500 RPM and I have experienced it on my bike as well as other D390s including the test ride bike.

This should be Bangalore. There was a half page Dainese advertisement in yesterdays TOI, Bangalore Edition. Amazed to find a kitted out KTM 1190 Adventure at the showroom. There is only one place they can source that from.

Enquired the 390's availability in Delhi todayfrom 2 dealers.

Called up the CP dealership first and asked them the OTR & delivery time (Black color).

OTR - 2.1 lac
Delivery period - 20 to 30 days

I was (happily)

I asked the sales rep if he was willing to furnish it in writing and he said yes. Will go for a meet n greet with (onbviously) a test ride next weekend

It does not stop there though. Thought of checking with a dealership @ a "lesser" mainstream location in the NCR region. Ditto OTR $$; and delivery time quoted ........ 7 days

Is the the ground reality? Are 390s now available (almost) off the shelf / sans (major) wait periods? Have the delivery periods indeed come down or is it just a ploy for me to loosen my purse strings?

Yes indeed they are now available off the shelf. My friend got it within 7 days of booking in December 2nd week.

Was at the KTM showroom today for a 390 TR and was informed that the hot start issue has been resolved in 2014 bikes. Was also told that the radiator fan now has a automatic switchover so that it spins in the opposite direction during city riding preventing the hot air blast on the legs. Can anyone confirm of this is true...

Prasad, that issue was solved quite some time back, in the 2013 bikes itself. Mines a dec 2013 bike and it has the same fan settings. Basically at very low speeds, the fan throws air towards the front to avoid hot air on the riders legs and make the heat bearable. After the cut off speed, I think it's 13, the fan reverses to adjust with the actual air draft thus reducing the load. And at a higher speed, frankly, the heat does not make a huge difference.

A close friend of mine finally bought the 390 (he has a lovely Lightning 500 which he wants to sell now). A black one. Yes it comes with the white-black contrast handguards.

Took a very short spin on it on a nice straight road behind the station. The Metzelers really do take some time to bed in. But this bike is definitely a smoother more free revving and effortless beast than the test 390 was. That much was evident immediately.His left mirror was very loose at the ball joint so I suggested he either get it tightened or changed in warranty.The mudguard reflector still hits the hugger.

I have heard few others say the same but it puzzles me as to how this is possible because even with a moderately heavy pillion, I have never encountered this problem. And the gap between hugger and reflector is quite huge! The only thing I can think of is a really heavy rider with 'softest' setting on the rear shock. Anyone who has had this issue, could you please try adjusting it to a harder setting and see if it repeats?

Went there yesterday. They have an S1000RR too in the store. In short, it was a leather jacket porn shop! The entry level jacket I guess was a mesh model costing a whooping 19k.

Mudguard reflector hitting the tyre hugger? never happened with me. are you sure about it doc? you said you went on a nice straight road and it was not even a potholed road or a road hump / rumbler? May be the chain is slack and hitting the chain cover? ( Chain slackens very soon in initial few hundred kilometers. Mine slackened in less than first 300 Kms).
The hugger, integrated with the saree guard is not adjustable fitment and so is the mudguard reflector. and this issue has not been reported with 390s. So are we having a new issue with the new lot of 390s?
