KTM organised the Orange Day in Mumbai for their Duke owners to have some track-fun. The event was organized at the parking lot for Inorbit Mall, Malad. Till now KTM has organized the Orange Day event at Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Noida, Chennai, Vadodara, Jaipur, Kochi and Delhi.

The Orange Flags all around the track ensured eyeballs.

A very narrow and challenging track to ride, included a hair-pin turn as well.


The track this time was claimed to be a bit longer than it used to be earlier.


Participants and viewers had gathered as early as 8 am.


It sure was a good turn-out for a Sunday morning, on a rather hot+humid day.


A 390 standing alone between the crowd.


Then entered the RC8 1190R.


Typical of KTM, lots of orange.


Look at that bulky fuel tank, fuel capacity of 16.5L.


Note the turn indicators on the RVMs.


Tail lamp is a thin LED unit. Just look at that rear rubber

Another bike making its way for eye candy was from KTM's MX category, the 350 SX‑F.


This one weighs just 104.9 kg, with 7.5L fuel tank capacity.

We found some interesting mods / decals on the Dukes. Here, check out the camouflage.


The green-neon rims were brighter than the sun.


Monster Energy drinks served complimentary to the participants + viewers.


A very good turn out, more than 40 registered Duke 200s.

Knee down on a corner? No sir.


Round 1. Look at the guy in 4th place and the angle at which his D200 is.


#4 is now #2, thanks to that hair-pin turn.


After 1 lap, this guy takes the #1 spot, and cruises to victory.


These rounds were just for qualifying, only the rider who qualifies 1st in each race will head to the final race. This is round 2.


A rider crashes after the hair-pin turn, and then a dead engine start throwing him all the way back in the race.


It was a sight watching the R15s take such sharp turns.


#2 had probably accounted for things going wrong (or just light weight), rides without the front fairing.


That is me with the D390. I had assumed that we would get D200s, and I was familiar to it too. The 390 was a powerful surprise.


All rounds / riders got a trial lap before the qualifying with Rustom Patel leading the pack.


Got 5th position on the grid, and Ready To Race.


This was my 1st time on the D390, clutch released = front wheel up
Went slow all through since I was not familiar to the bike one bit.


Got boxed-in by other riders. I am #13.


Had lost the 5th (out of 6) spot in the last lap, but got it back before the hair-pin turn.

Hey Parrys,

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see people taking their machines to the track and pushing it to the limits.

The track seems a little scary . With all the bikes so close and not enough banking to support the corners would have been a great drawback IMHO. All said, I would love to do a track day similar to this. I liked the theory of Ride-Eat-Ride-Love-Sleep.

RC8 1190 left me drooling.

You should have seen the participants ride on that track. When I first reached the track I was like 'I want to win, I want to win'; after a couple of rounds, this changed to 'I don't want to fall, I don't want to fall'

On such a short track competing with the D390s (or even the D200s)? No, the R15 had no shot. It just cannot take that hair-pin turn as quick as the nakeds can.
From all the qualifying rounds, the selected riders went ahead to a final race, including bikes of all categories. The R15 was quite a distance away when the chequered flag was out.

Did you shoot any videos of the race?

Yes, a friend did. But thanks to HD recording, it is over 400MB. Will re-size and upload in a day or two.

The one that I am riding, you can see that it was a registered bike. Most probably it was dealer owned. In the 390 category, not all the bikes were provided by KTM, some were owners themselves riding their own bikes.

Honestly, I can't tell if the other two media bikes (which have tapes on the number plates) were yet to be delivered customer bikes.

Nice thread Parry. Looks like you all had ample amount of fun.

Looks a little scary though since there is hardly any run off area in case of a fall. Hopefully the guy who did fall did not get any injuries.

I'm amazed at the lean angle which you shot of one of the dukes. These bikes are light and extremely flickable.

Must have been quite an experience with all the adrenalin pumping and bikes revving all around you.

Seems like this was a well organized event. The Bangalore event was a sham! Hordes of folks had come and registered and waited and waited and waited!

Finally we saw some movement happen! People in orange vests started walking around with flags and stuff and then went back into a huddle.

Even god got tired of waiting, and opened up the skies just over the event. It rained, RAINED REAL HARD! So much that the track turned into a lake. So all they could've done is, convert the bikes into power boats and conduct the race.

And then Prakhar waved his hand in cancellation! Such an anti-climax it was!

Just not to disappoint the crowd, some pro's did some stunts and stuff (it was so dangerous as they were not geared properly either)!
