Thanks for the kind words.
Another reason being, I had no luck in finding the RXG Tank decals during restoration. Actually I found them after getting the RX100 tank & shields. So dropped the idea of RXG badging.

Faced the same issue with my bike when I restored it.

I had a real tough time finding why my bike was jerking, and the simple solution came from a very unusual place.

I had painted the tank and got the inner side of the tank coated with epoxy. This had narrowed the opening to the petrol outlet thereby reducing the flow. So after a few days the bike started to jerk once I reached the speed of 60 kmph, the bike jerked a lot.

Solution - Removed the petrol cork, scraped off excess paint from the outlet walls, cleaned the air outlet hole in the petrol cap, and viola.

Thought this experience might help.

Re: Restoration - 1997 Yamaha RXG

Had a tough time solving the Jerk issue.
- Tried all possible carburetor tuning options, but none helped
- A couple of months back changed the complete clutch assembly (primary drive), sprockets and carburetor from RX135. There was some improvement but not up-to the mark. After few days the jerk issue cropped again. I realized I haven't changed the rotor (Magneto)
- Last week I rolled back to RXG set-up but with a little change in sprocketing. Instead of 15x37 I went to 14x34 (ratio 2.43 instead of 2.47) 14T inner sprocket borrowed from Bajaj Discover.

I feel better with this set up (compromising a little acceleration, but that isn't noticeable)

Re: Restoration - 1997 Yamaha RXG

14x34 sprockets gave a good relief to me towards the jerk issue. But I couldn't relate how sprocketing could address the jerk issue. Can someone please throw some light?

Re: Restoration - 1997 Yamaha RXG

Hello guys
Anyone in this thread having RX135's 3KA20 bore assembly ? I have one in my RX and having faced some issue. I have to constantly twisting the throttle to keep in the powerband otherwise it will not accelerate. while acceleration is strong in first two gears, it is very opposite for 3rd and 4th gear somewhat like sudden RPM drop and accelerate very slowly and max out at 75 kmph in 4th.
Any help/advise will be welcomed.

Re: Restoration - 1997 Yamaha RXG

Had a worst evening yesterday but fortunately out of busy hours and very near my mechanic garage. Side lock got stuck and couldn't insert the key inside. Tried all possible solutions but later we found the outer aluminium shell was broken . Removed them and got a new lock set (Set of 4)
