Bajaj has unveiled the Pulsar CS400, a naked street fighter bike concept @ Auto Expo 2014.
1. 375cc liquid cooled, 4 valve triple spark engine with FI.
2. 6 speed gearbox.
3. Equipped with ABS.
Power output and other specs have not been revealed. But we can safely expect the BHP rating to be almost identical to the Duke 390. However, like the 200 NS, expect the engine in a different state of tune.
Looks like a beefed up version of the 200 NS from this angle. Notice how high the tank is.
Front end is noticeably different than the earlier Pulsar range.
Rear three quarter is good to look at, with the extended tail end (mud flap) for the number plate mount.
Headlamp is XL size, also, note how wide the front tyre section is. (May or may not make it to the production with this wide tyres)
Minimalistic tail design. Not a short number plate mount as the 200 NS, hence, no tyre hugger seen here.
Speedometer on the tank, tachometer bar placed conventionally, in the speedo console. All digital. Conventional handle bars too.
Headlamps were all LED. (Do remember, this is just a concept)
Scooped up tank, nothing new for the Pulsar series.
Single piece seat for the rider+pillion. Pillion seat placed higher though.
Tail lamp section is on a plastic cladding. Rear chain sprocket is all black.
The typical Pulsar twin strip LED tail lamp.
Almost dark grey engine casing.
Short exhaust pipe.
Front disc shows of the ABS sensor. Notice the inverted front forks.
A better looking swing-arm compared to the earlier Bajaj's.
Bajaj has unveiled the Pulsar SS400, a fully faired bike @ Auto Expo 2014.
1. 375cc liquid cooled, 4 valve triple spark engine with FI.
2. 6 speed gearbox.
3. Equipped with ABS.
Power output and other specs have not been revealed. But we can safely expect the BHP rating to be almost identical to the Duke 390. However, like the 200 NS, expect the engine in a different state of tune.
The bike is full of lines flowing all across. Looks too busy a design.
Grey, yellow, black and white lines make the already busy fairing look more busier.
One is a projector & the other is reflector based. LED pilot lamps. Masses will like it.
Front end is undeniably similar to the Energica by CRP Racing. However, very good looking.
A mix of digital & conventional speedometer.
Clip on handle bars, notice how raised they are.
Rear three quarter view: Raised enough for that
super sport look.
Swing-arm looks a little longer than the CS400. Step-up seats.
Pulsar branding, the same font, as always.
Variant branding, stickers look low quality.
CS400 gets inverted forks, but the SS400 gets the conventional telescopic forks. Disc brakes are not of the petal type.
Twin strip LED tail lamps for being typical Pulsar, but more like chevron brackets.
A closer look at the engine section.
Fat rear section...
...Metzeler Sportec M5
The daily dose was on display too:
Pulsar 200 NS.
Discover 125ST
Discover 125T
Discover 100M.
Bajaj U Car Concept:
Engine capacity - unknown, 4 valve, triple spark FI petrol engine mated to a FWD AT.
Scissor doors clap:
Closer look.
Good looking grey alloys.
LED light bars in the headlamps.
Concept, yes. Good looking -
YES.
A look with the scissor closed.
Tail lamps on the rear quarter glass.
Quirky rear end, but has rear discs.
Looks like a 'U' car.
A sneak peak on the inside.
Bajaj RE60 also made its presence felt, in a colourful way.
And a lot of colours.
Bumper looks too plasticy.
Rear end resembles to the rickshaws, however, these are of the hard type. Engine to be accessed behind the center piece on the rear bumper.
Centrally mounted speedo console. Everything is utilitarian to say the best. Notice where the handbrake is.
Front seats are good to sit, not sit comfortably.
Flat rear bench, shows a 60:40 split.
Masked in black tail lamp.
So is the head lamp.
Good looking alloys, for a commercial vehicle concept.
The CS400 in my opinion has reminiscence of the second gen Pulsar 150/180 and they have taken cues from the Ducati Streetfighter as in the below picture.
400SS can easily fit into next TRANSFORMER movie. I mean the headlamp looks like face of an autobot. Jokes apart, I'm really happy that Bajaj is showcasing world class products. The 400 series can easily give a tough competition to international players, including KTM. Despite NS200 , Duke 200 is big success. I think CS400 wont be a problem for Duke 390. It will be nice tussle between RC390 and SS400, but I think SS will have advantage this time.

Thanks for the lovely pictures parrys.
I still can't believe that SS and CS are bikes made by Hamara Bajaj. Kudos to them for exceptional job they've done.
I've already started dithering on which of the twins to get home. Heart says SS, mind says CS. Can't wait for them to hit the roads. Hope its sooner rather than later.
BTW, sportec m5 on the SS are indeed Metzelers. Wonder what tires are shod on the CS.
Thanks for great pics and coverage - any news on when they'll launch the 400CS and 400SS?
The 400CS looks better equipped - USD forks, full digital console - so the SS gains a faring at the cost of these. Indication that 400CS and 400SS will be priced very close to each other?
Also, the Sportec M5 is a Metzeler tyre - the one provided on the Duke390. I seriosuly hope Bajaj doesn't cut cost and provide MRF RevZs for a 40+ bhp bike.
Was never a fan of BAJAJ, but i must admit that they did an exceptionally good job in making of CS400 and SS400.
SS400 looks amazing especially in this yellow colour and i am sure we are going to see a good number of these our roads
CS400- looks like it took inspiration from diavel(in a good way) and looks like its going to create a segment of its own
Knowing bajaj i expect the pricing to VFM :)
hats-off to BAJAJ:thumbs up
Thank you very much parrys for the nice pictures and the notes !!!
- U Car Concept - a different piece altogether... stylish, sporty and smart! However, did anyone notice how the front wheel touches the fender arch with no space left in the wheel well. Why's that, is that acceptable in a concept?
- RE60 - is the launch around the corner? did they provide any updates? It is a long time now. Pretty basic product, but I think it will do a lot good, if it can eventually replace the 3-wheeler auto-rickshaws.
Thanks,
C_
Thanks for the coverage. CS400 is simply stunning. Would have preferred better clip ons for the SS. Nevertheless great introductions by Bajaj:thumbs up cant wait to see them in production
CS and SS 400 looks the part for bikes from a global manufacturer! Proud of what Bajaj has done and kudos to the leadership team for working to get to this stage.
Hero and TVS can learn a thing or two.
Absolutely love the CS400. I cannot believe it's from Bajaj, they've evolved so much since the days of the Chetak. Also, I'm happy it is the road-version and not a concept. I just hope they change the 1990s handle and give us something better. Any idea on the price?
