Check out that slick.

Saw the daddy, now look at the new born. The R25 concept was showcased at the Autp Expo 2014.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-05img_2996.jpg

No dates as to when it would make it to the streets.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-06img_2960.jpg

Significantly bigger than the R15.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-07img_2969.jpg

Akrapovic exhaust on the concept.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-08img_2981.jpg

No number plate mount at the back.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-09img_2980.jpg

No headlamp either. Nor the LEDs for the concept, like other manufacturers.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-10img_2966.jpg

Check how the fairing doesn't align with the frame. Also, the frame isn't a Deltabox.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-11img_2968.jpg

Golden chain was exposed completely. Even at the front sprocket.

LED tail lamps, flushed with the rear cowl / panel.

Closer look at the tail lamp.

Hope this does make it to the production version, no one would complaint.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-15img_2978.jpg

Looks like a type of folding brake lever. Prevents breakage if the bike is dropped.

A look at the speedo console.

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014

Yamaha launched the Alpha scooter at the Auto Expo. Priced at INR 49,518/- (Delhi retail price).

1. Powered by a 113cc engine mated to a CVT transmission.
2. 62 kmpl ARAI certified.
3. Telescopic front suspension & 21L of storage space.
4. Yamaha is also investing INR 1500 crore in its new plant which will be operational by the end of this year.

The alpha has no Ray effect, looks completely different.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-19img_2938.jpg

Two other colours on display.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-20img_2952.jpg

Small Yamaha logo placed between the indicators.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-21img_2939.jpg

A decent looking scooter. No wow factor, but looks the part.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-22img_2941.jpg

Typical of scooters, a big grab rail for the pillion.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-23img_2942.jpg

Tail lamp on the lower half of the rear cowl, and indicators on top.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-24img_2948.jpg

Will this swallow a full face helmet? Fuel cap under the seat, not so convenient.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-25img_2944.jpg

Red surround around the speedo console is too loud. Odometer is old school.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-26img_2945.jpg

Keyhole and choke switch on either side below the handle bar.
Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-27img_2946.jpg

The CVT box.

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014

Somehow Yamaha are being very conservative in their approach to India. Still do not see why they are holding back the launches of FZ-8. Probably they can take a leaf out of Kawasaki who have had a slew of launches off late.

Not much to Crow about at the Yamaha Counter

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014

Yamaha has the best product pipeline, but their launches in India are quite slow and conservative. Somewhere, I feel that they lack the aggression of capturing the existing potential of Indian market.

However, with the launch of scooters, they have taken a small step in the right and much desired direction.

This launch can turn the tables in their favour.

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014

The Alpha scooter seems to be the only takeaway for our customers and seems to target bang on in the territory of the Activa, Access and the Wegos of our world.

Other than that all others are drool tools. Hope they bring in some more exciting bikes for our market.

Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014-2014yamahayzfr15newgreycolourm1_560x420.jpg

This is the 2014 Yamaha YZF R15 regarding which Zigwheels have managed a scoop that the same will be launched in Apr-14, with an improved (new) fuel injection syctem that will enhance the power to 18PS (up from 17PS). The torque will remain at 15Nm, but this new setup will improve the torque spread giving the 2011 version better midrange, makeing it better to ride in urban conditions. The price is speculated to remain at Rs1.12 Lac (same as 2013 model).

The bike won't get major styling changes, except new colour option & limited/ special edition graphics, the website added.

More details here:

I had just visited the yamaha showroom in bangalore(banashankari) a couple of days ago and was surprised to see the salesman tell me that the 2014 version of the R15 would receive only styling changes and also that it would cost about 4000-5000 ruppees more than the current model..
So im not sure whether this is right.
Can somebody check this up?

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2014

Hi @ayush1434

The details are already there in my post that you quoted. But, yes it appears that empasis has been more on cosmetic changes rather than advertise the real changes.

In the meantime there are more photos of the bikes, courtesy XBHP:

& new colours for the Fazer & FZ-S as well:

... mind you they are already testing a new FZ with bigger (~170cc) engine & sharper looks to stay in heat in the executive segment.
