Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

I am waiting for some scooters like Zir in Indian Market. I would be one of the few first customers.

iON looks futuristic. Not able to understand the wheels though. Where is the wheel axle and how exactly the motor give power to wheel?

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

That RnT thing looks like the best functional touring bike available which can carry luggage for two and sport two up riding as well in the country.

Stupid KTM.

<Sarcastically speaking>.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

The Tron-ish looking iON is simply a great concept!! So is the SimplEcity, whatever it is!!

Frankly, I was not expecting these concepts, especially from an Indian two wheeler manufacturer!

The RNT looks like a Decepticon got killed before it could transform!! It is a disaster from any angle. Hero could really have done far better that this!

Also, what is exactly the Passion Pro TR?

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

Kudos to Hero for having so many different looking models, and not just sticker jobs.

Hero Zir looks promising, hope it gets launched soon and creates a new segment in scooters. Having 150cc liquid cooled engine makes sense, tyres look small at least rear looks that way. Hero should launch this ahead of Honda PCX 125/150.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

When Hero and Honda split i thought they wouldn't make it big again (With their then-current lineup of vehicles). Thank you , Hero MotoCorp for making me a believer !
Hope to see these beauties on the road very very soon ! Especially the ZIR , Damn! that's just crazy :P .

It is a HUBLESS wheel. The fixed swingarm is connected to the white round wheel and the moving part(RIM), along with the rubber part on it moves. Not ideal for High speeds, unless the production balance is absolutely right.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

The Hero Zir is exactly the kind of scooter I've been wanting for ages now. Of course, would have loved for one with a higher capacity engine to be offered as an option.

Eagerly awaiting news of its production and sales.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

Folks

Need some education here. The Hero Zir power is at 14 BHP @ 8500 RPM & 12.7 Nm @ 7000 RPM.
Is that a typo? This scooter usually will not cross 3500 RPM in the city!
Why would anyone bother about 7000 or 8500RPM?

Thanks!

----
Hero Zir:

1. Powered by a 157.1cc liquid cooled engine.
2. 14 BHP @ 8500 RPM & 12.7 Nm @ 7000 RPM.
3. Telescopic front forks & adjustable dual rear shock absorbers.
4. Disc brakes, font & back.
5. 9 litres of fuel tank, 2.5 litres of usable reserve.
6. 139 kg kerb weight.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

Hastur looks decent. A cross between Duke and Ducati. I wish they would have thought about a different name. I read it as "hastoor" till I watched the video.
The 250CCs look really old from design perspective. Reminds you of the Hondas from 80's.
Projectors on scooters? Hero trying to change the image for the scooters category?
The RnT Diesel motorcycle looks as pretty as Frankenstein.
The iON is nice ..with TRON like wheels. Do these spoke-less wheels have a special name?
ZMR's age has started showing. Needs to be redesigned from scratch.

Overall good effort from Hero!

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

Even I'm surprised to see Hero Motocorp's lineup, specially the non-geared ones!!
I'm not a 'biker' however I liked the 'Hero Splendor Pro Classic Cafe Racer' iteration of good old Splendor. Kind of interesting and with slight modifications it will definitely look 'classic'.

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

The healights for the Hastur remind me of the robos in Wall-E.

I hope to see Hastur on road, but when Pawan Munjal was asked when we can expect the concept bikes, his response was they are destined for the future!!

Re: Hero MotoCorp @ Auto Expo 2014

Good to see HX 250R coming with Pirelli. No need for tire swaps.

Karzima & the ZMR with their front fairing is yuckiness taken to extreme levels. Hope EBR resurrects it.

Looks like the ZIR (Pronounced same way as ZMR) has garnered the maximum interest among all products displayed at the Hero stall. Me included, would like to book one as soon as bookings are announced.

Here is the official video released by Hero Moto Corp.

Some additional features include -
  • Projector headlamps.
  • Petal disk brakes (Front and Rear? Doubt the rear disk will make it to production).
  • Combined braking.
  • Hero Ride Stat (Mobile app. Connects via bluetooth to provide trip stats)
  • LED blinkers and tail lamps.
  • Under seat mobile charger.
  • Fully Digital Instrument Console.
  • LED DRLs.
