Re: TVS @ Auto Expo 2014

Huh, couldn't get any more boring than this. I had almost forgotten TVS until parrys posted this thread. Looks like TVS has no plans for any motorcycle launches in the near term, given that none of their concepts look ready for production. They might as well have not put the stall.

Why the heck doesn't TVS launch the two "Not Available In India" models in India?

TVS Motors @ Expo 2014

I am starting a new thread for TVS motors. Few eye-poping bikes were there! Mainly, Graphite and Draken.

I was blown away by the design of graphite: i saw its fuel filler cap on near foot bed, AMT with paddle shifting gears (wow)- although these shifters look like the choke button that used to come in Scooty, they were very techy! Not to mention the design, simply awesome!

Also attached are a few images of the Draken and the apache 300- mod version.

Re: TVS @ Auto Expo 2014

Draken and Graphite seem to be the only two which have the ammunition to turn heads for TVS.

Graphite expecially seems to be very interesting since if brought into production it would reignite the power scooter market with its 150cc mill at 14 BHP. Our market badly needs one and this should easily fill the gap.

Re: TVS @ Auto Expo 2014

I am a bit concerned about the marketability of tye 150cc scooters. Sure the enthusiastic riders will go for it. The way I see it the scooters are a milage sensitive market and may not be very price sensitive one as the vespa proves it.

Just hope the markets are mature enough for these products.

Vespa tried to milk people's nostalgia for a classic-looking scooter by charging a very high premium. This is what killed it. People don't mind paying higher for high-end scooters, as long as they are good value for money. There will be a lot of takers for 150 cc, 200 cc, 250 cc, etc. scooters as long as they are priced appropriately.

Re: TVS @ Auto Expo 2014

TVS has certainly lost its plot completely.

From a top manufacturer, with products so unviable, it wont take them long to become fringe players.

Frankly, what are they offering:

1) Graphite- where is the feasibility?
2) Apache Enduro- For a top company like TVS, the finished product looks half cooked and down right shabby. The paint sort of seems like peeling off.
3) The Draken wont make it to the production and honestly, the design isnt great as well inthe first place.

What does the top brass up to at TVS?

I have immense respect for them and have been a TVS loyalist for the last 10 years. Yet, what is in for store is highly, highly disappointing.

Re: TVS @ Auto Expo 2014

Agreed that the concepts are not feasible for production but they are a nice example of the company's vision toward future offerings. Some of the features on those concepts might trickle down onto it's current offerings. The Draken has a lot of borrowed styling cues yet it still looks mean enough for a 250cc steetfighter and the specs seem impressive, at least on paper. The accompanying gal looks cute too!

Re: TVS @ Auto Expo 2014

I like the big wheel scooters for its practicality. But currently it is offered only in Indonesia. Why are such kind not offered in India?
We only have the small tyres which are prone to skidding.
Anything above 100cc should have large tyres. I hope such models are launched in India as well.

Re: TVS @ Auto Expo 2014

I had a small test ride of the TVS Zest yesterday evening. The pickup is good, then slows down a little and then picks up again(Like turbo lag. :P) after you blip the throttle a bit more. All the while maintaining a smooth, vibe free demeanour. The rear brakes caught me by surprise, were extremely sharp. Front brakes were so so.The dynamics, well, I did find the Activa easier to handle at low speeds. The bike is extremely easy to put on Main Stand. This is apparently specially designed for the female race. The trick is, it doesn't life the bike much, as other main stands do. Lifts it just enough to get it to settle on the stand.
