Re: Terra Motors @ Auto Expo 2014

Seems like Terra Motors ripped off Zero motorcycles by redressing the Zero S and calling it their own and launching it at the Auto Expo 2014. http://green.autoblog.com/2014/01/31...really-zero-s/

Plus its really funny how someone can claim that a 10KW engine has "acceleration equal to a 1000cc bike".

Quality and design wise I don't see anything 'Japanese'!!
Kiwami may be an exception to certain extent considering its acceleration is equal to that of a 1000cc bike.

Agree with you completely! Only the Kiwami is an exception all others look cheap. But at the mentioned price even that won't sell in any good numbers. The 3 wheeler looks good from front but the 80 km range is a handicap because anyone who's driving it for a full day wishes to cover more than 80km, in many short trips.

Re: Terra Motors @ Auto Expo 2014

The electric scooter - A4000i, is just the kind the next generation e-bike that the Indian market needs. We know about the troubles of the current generation e-bikes, they use old lead acid batteries, take forever to charge, have low power motors that allow a top speed of 25 kmph (most models) and have generally been poorly received in the Indian market.

In my website, I did blog about a startup company based out of Chennai, who are working on a next generation e-bike.

When a multinational like Terra Motors comes into the picture we need to sit up and take notice.

Terra Motors could be the first attempt at making a dent in the 2 wheeler market for E-Bikes.

Terra Motors, the Japanese manufacturer of electric two- and three-wheelers, has taken the covers off the ‘R6’, which it plans to sell in India early next year.
Terra Motors claims with full charge, the R6 can go as far as 100km and that the vehicle has been tested in India for durability.

The company claims,
Quote:
We design the vehicle for safety and durability. The R6 is now being tested by a certificated agency. We aim for 10,000 units of sales for electric three-wheelers within 2015. We are now developing 2 to 3 types of electric three-wheelers including the e-rickshaw segment with a competitive price
