re: Scoop! KTM Duke RC390 spotted testing

Looks to me like the RC390 by the wheels, tyres and the brakes. I could be wrong but the RC390 will be only one from KTM with those orange wheels. They will not sell it as standard for 200 if i guess it right.

RC390 is the most exciting bike in the coming months. The naked 390 will take a hit for sure.

This is the 390 for sure, the left side of the engine and the rear sprocket are the things which distinguish it from the 200.

Nice. Wish it reaches the market sooner. Although, I hope those front indicators don't remain in the production version: just doesn't go with the whole chiselled look. The regular LEDs of the Dukes would suit just fine.

re: The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread

I wonder if we could get that console with the lights (twin projectors + DRLs) and plonk it on a Duke. The Duk's lights are really not that good. And its definitely neede on the 390s (I want it for my 200 as well).

I am also wondering if they are changing something with respect to battery. I want a slightly bigger by not size but Amp battery to support such mods.

Also do you guys feel the 390 front end is slightly short and its not exactly ideal for those sudden braking. Having sold the 390, the bull 500 with those longer front end seems far more stable at braking from high speeds. Not comparing but feeling the front end of 390 can be slightly longer to get better balance.

Try high speed braking in 390 and its actually slightly scary even with the ABS. At speeds below 60 this is safest bike i have ever rode. But not at high speeds.

Hopefully RC390 has that accounted, hoping so because of the shape.

Sounds very yummy for faire bike lovers. Parrys might just be tempted to sell his R15 for this baby.

The seat height is actually 10 mm more than the 200 (or 20 mm more than the 390). Even the ground clearance is marginaly more than the Dukes.

Anyone know when this will be launched? And what price range it might belong to?

Thought about it already. Waiting to test ride this.

Quality is the only concern. Fellow riders mentioned that they had some issues with their Duke 390s, like the key not turning left and right smoothly and more such minor stuff which matters the most in the long run.

Praying that the quality has gone a notch above the Duke.
From the recent spyshot, I am not sure if I like the DRLs. Projector headlamps are welcome.

And about Yamaha, lets not be too loud, we might just wake them up.

Is that a desirable outcome or not?

I agree on the quality bit. The radiator fan issue I saw recently has still not been addressed - i.e. after a ride, you come back to standstill, fan comes on, you wait for the fan to go off before shutting off the engine.

And you keep waiting. For 10 minutes at a stretch. And still the fan does not go off. And finally you just shut off the engine. Used to happen in my test 390 as well. Never got a high temperature warning though, as the bars never went into the high zone ..... but still.

My friend with the 390 recently rode with a bunch of 390 riders in Pune. Some club with a fancy name. Apparently they all just shut off their bikes when they come to a standstill. Without bothering about whether the fan is off or on. The 200 has a definite fan cycle time, after which you can perceptibly see the bars reducing 1-2 down, and then the fan goes off. max 1 minute, or a little more.

I would like to learn about other issues, but can confirm that the issue with the bike key, is mostly in case of bike (s) parked outside garage, exposed to elements. I to change my Splendor's key mechanism & in case of my Pulsar, the mechanic oiled the same (not sure whether this is advisible) & it would work properly for few days.
