Tharian bro, I was totally unaware of the basic difference in engine of your bull and the new series, thanks for the input.

the level of your experience with bulls (c5 included), your opinion will always a valuable and sensible guidance for people who are totally into this territory.

Don't know why the company did this

@Tharian : Sorry for going OT in your thread.

So I think I can go for a 14 AH battery in a later stage when battery needs replacement or should I go in the first instance? I hope the electrical system supports too.

Is possible that I can get a good buyback price for factory fitted battery for a replacement with 14AH. Will it void warranty...

Will changing pilot lamps and switching to LEDs also void warranty?

Got the new electra. These are the first pics.

Tharians thread has been more than an inspiration.

Have named the bull deep green.

I will be starting a new thread for the deep green.

Thank you very much and definitely I'll do justice to this thread by keeping the machine in top condition.

I'm waiting to get better pictures in sunlight. I'm equipped only with a mobile phone, so quality of pictures might not that great in detail.

And while I was driving home the bull a great black mahindra thar overtook me reminding me instantly of tharian.

re: Royal Enfield Electra: 1,18,000 kms & 16 years

Clocked 1,08,400 kms.

A friend who saw the speedo asked if I had replaced it since it read 8,400 kms.

The front brake cable cut thankfuly while pulling the bike out from a spot. Replaced the same along with the chain link since it was making a tak tak noise.

Reverted to the stock long exhaust and enjoying the increase in torque now. Good to have different mufflers which can be swapped in minutes according to my mood.

re: Royal Enfield Electra: 1,18,000 kms & 16 years

Rejuvenation ride update.

Time was up for another weekend 'clear my mind ride' and for the bike as well.
This time it was with a pillion and it was good since I could gauge how good the engine was on load. The last time I did a short ride with a pillion was more than a year ago.

Did a mix of road types from the 6 lane towards the airport and then cut off at Devanahalli to Dodballapur to Dabaspet and back via Nelmangala.

On the way, took a deviation towards Ghati Subramanya and was welcomed with some freshly asphalted winding roads and in the process got some favorite biker's snaps and of course found out it was a superb spot for my other pass time, trainspotting!

In all , did around 170 kms. Engine didn't miss a beat as always. I could not keep my usual speeds and was probably 10 kmh below due to pillion. The bike is at 1,09,300 kms now and will go in for service in another 700 kms.
The clutch plates need to be replaced although there don't seem to be slipping. Few weeks back when the cable snapped and I replaced it , the adjustment screw on the gear lever end maxed out which makes me feel the plates have neared end of life. It has easily been over half a lakh kms since last replaced.

The ride was also a bit different since I used 3M disposable ear plugs which made the ride so much more pleasant and less tiring. Highly recommended. Best part of it, the exhaust note is super bassy and less loud.

Re: Royal Enfield Electra: 1,10,000 kms

Filled up all the slots of the odometer for the second time.

Hit the 1,10,000 kms mark completing 14 years next month.

Bike continues to run without a hitch.
Oil consumption remains the same, fuel efficiency at 24 kmpl which increases by 2-3 kmpl on a long ride.
Absolutely no loss in power.

Recently I tried something which worked out well.
I fixed the K&N conical filter to the resonator box instead of directly to the carb.
This resulted in better low and mid and lower intake noise..
With directly fixed to the carb, the intake chugging noise was quite loud and low end was bad unless the engine was revv'd in every gear.
With this set up, the power delivery is a notch or two above the stock set up.

1,10,750 kms completed

What started of as a short impromptu ride ended up as the highest distance I have done on my Electra in a day.

Being a long weekend and first weekend after pay day, I decided to take a break with a ride.
Initial confusion was whether to use the D390 of member SandeepMohan which has been with me or my old girl.
Since it was to be a lazy ride, decided on the 350. Recently I had swapped the stock filter with a K&N conical covered with an intake pipe and wanted to see if that would help on the highway.

Left at 7am and headed towards Manapalle from Hoskote which is a good stretch now, but with too many speedbreakers. The last 20 kms nearing Madnapalle is not that good. Stopped at the usual hotel for breakfast near the Horsley Hills cut off and had two routes to choose from. One was towards Kadiri and back via the Hyderabad -Blore highway and the other was Cupapah. Choose the later depending on road conditions which was thankfully good. The connecting road from Madnapalle to Rayachoti is quite deserted with hills all around and is perfect for biking, but a breakdown here will put a spanner in the works.

I was able to keep an average of 50 kmh with the speedo between 70-80 kmh. Didn't want to stress the engine which has run over a lakh . The filter change did help in cooler weather in the morning and evening and was useful for overtakes as well when I opened throttle. Got an average of 27kmpl in process. The entry to Cudapah is over a pass which is a hill ghat section with heavy truck traffic. This area I guess has plenty of cement factories since majority of the trucks were bulk cement carriers and they were present all the way from Hoskote. Return was via the same route since Chittoor was long way round which was what I wanted to do.
Total kms done was 450 kms and the bike has clocked 110750 kms now.
The bike is due for service now since the oil was already 4000 kms old and the engine has become rough after the ride.
No oil leaks or issues during or after the ride. There are some nice long straight stretches on this route especially after Chintamani bypass towards Madnapalle in which the throttle can be kept pinned at a position for over 4 kms .

Overall a good ride with the bike performing as how it used to when it was new.
Some pictures and of the route taken.

re: Royal Enfield Electra: 1,18,000 kms & 16 years

Completed the 14 year service at 110750 kms.

The usual oil changes were carried out. The rear brake shoes were replaced.
There is a constant chain hitting the clutch casing sound when certain links hit. Not sure how it started . It is only when accelerating and I thought tightening the chain would resolve it, but it hasn't after the service. There was also a very slight oil leak at the head which increased after the last ride. Don't think it is a major leak for now.

Everything else is good to go and with fresh oil, the engine is much smoother.
Another week, the bike completes 14 years.

re: Royal Enfield Electra: 1,18,000 kms & 16 years

Being September 13th I had to do a ride to celebrate the day of purchase of my bike 14 years ago.

Bangalore being in shut down mode helped and I took off in the evening to do some city roads which I would have last scene empty years ago when I used to do early Sunday rides.

Rode around 50 kms within the city mainly on the ORR and enjoyed the ride due to low traffic. Happy to notice the engine ticks perfectly and has become very smooth after the oil change.
The filter arrangement has helped in the engine breathing cooler air especially during cool weather.Since the fuel jet is stock, WOT is restricted to 10 kmph below the claimed top .
Only niggles is the stiff front which comes and goes and I haven't figured what is causing it and the chain hitting noise.

Clocked 1,10,915 kms

re: Royal Enfield Electra: 1,18,000 kms & 16 years

Update at 111000 kms.

Saturday being rather jobless, thought I'd get the gearbox grease-oil mix replaced.
The one that had been in the gearbox was quite old and was almost watery when drained.
Replaced with a fresh mix with no changes in smoothness in shifts yet.

Next the wheel truing needs to be done especially on the front since that may be the cause of the front stiffening while riding, intermittently.

re: Royal Enfield Electra: 1,18,000 kms & 16 years

Finally got rid of the annoying sound of the chain hitting the brake lever bolt on the inside.
Not only was it annoying, the sides of the chain links were starting to get worn.

As with other simple fixes, this was another. The chain was tightened and the link replaced. Chain tightening was something I used to do religiously which for some reason I missed out in the last few months.
Also got both the wheels trewing done which has improved the handling.

Starting trouble is present now and then. I feel that CDI ignition component is on its last legs.

Bike is running as smooth as ever with mileage around the 25kmpl mark.
Clocked 1,11,500 kms.

Doesn't putting that grill over the headlamp reduce the illumination?

This type hardly affects the beam. If you look carefully, you can see the shadow of the grill on the road, but it doesn't affect illumination.
There are other types I've seen that have more grills which will affect the beam.
