Re: Our Matt Black Vespa S 125: Pricey, but exclusive

Today both the Keys got their companions

Our Matt Black Vespa S 125: Pricey, but exclusive-ltd-tbhp.jpg
Companions!

Now regarding number plates for the front.
On Googling, I found these two images. How does it look? Where and how can this be done easily? Any ideas are welcome

After the positives, now for a couple of negative small experiences I would like to share about my new vehicle.

1. The left side mirror was not tightened enough and on a small stretch of expressway it got loose.
I stopped the vehicle and tried to tighten it by hand but it has got two bolts that rotate in opposite direction and it got more loose.
I removed it and later on after reaching home fixed it using the right tools

2. In the morning When I removed the vehicle, The handle was really tight.
Puzzled, I checked the front tyre, it was fine. I started and moved on, it was a bit shaky but I somehow drove. After 4 Kilometres I stopped at the fuel station and filled up the tank, it took in 7 Litres.
Just to be sure, I also stopped to fill air. This time-The tyre was flat!
I couldn't believe it. I anyways asked the pump attendant to fill air first. He filled it and after that it hasn't come down till now.
I had driven a maximum of 4 kilometres on a flat Tyre-Luckily the tubeless Tyre wasn't punctured.
I checked all the photos I have taken and everywhere the Tyre appeared filled.
I could think of two possibilities:
  1. Some mischief in my apartment parking lot.
  2. A bent alloy which was leaking air. This would be a rare possibility IMO
Anyways I'm now noting this down as a checkpoint for the 1st month checkup/service. But if it repeats again tomorrow, I take it immediately.

Re: Our Matt Black Vespa S 125: Pricey, but exclusive

I live in Gurgaon, Haryana and so there is a state border to cross when coming back from Delhi. Police checking can be intensive for two-wheelers, I'd often get stopped, sometimes two or three days in a row when I was on the old bajaj motorbike rather than the Linea/Palio.

Since I've got the Vespa I just get waved on: I have yet to be stopped even once in the eight months of ownership! A Vespa just has CREDIBILITY and RESPECT from the Delhi and Haryana police, something they otherwise reserve only for big, expensive cars and SUVs! ;-)

The question is, Where would we find a cape crusader if the MATT emits bat signals?? You didn't buy a cape did you ??

Coming weekend, I've planned to take some pictures of my "Matt-mobile" individually and along with my "Abarth". Lets see how things pan out.
I'm actually flattered( you already changed the name of the thread) i'm glad you liked the name. Looking forward to more pictures of the MATT Mobile.

Re: Our Matt Black Vespa S 125: Pricey, but exclusive

Congratulations on one of the most exclusive and desirable scooters in the country today. It is wonderful, and your explanation on rationalising the pricing is perfect. Somehow one doesn't feel like spending more on a scooter that will most likely be with us for at least 5 years, while one does on smartphones that one changes every 2 years.

Cheers & wish you many miles of happiness.

I have to mention though that your choice of helmet shouldn't be based purely on aesthetics. Please check out the LS2 range of helmets; you will get matte black full faced or open helmets that will actually protect you if (hopefully never) the need arises.

Re: Our Matt Black Vespa S 125: Pricey, but exclusive

Congrats!!!

I'm not much of a 2-wheeler person but then a Vespa has an ability to warm your heart in a way which only Italians can do.

And Matt Black is just wow. First time I came to know this option on non-luxury/ sports vehicles. But then, Vespa is the premium scooter, ain't it.

I was delightful to go through your post. Wish you and your wife happy motoring.

Please check the tubeless tyre values! I had the same thing happening on my car - You can tighten the value inside the stub with a small screw driver. Mysterious air loss will get solved!

Re: Our Matt Black Vespa S 125: Pricey, but exclusive

Getting tempted to buy one even though I know I wont be riding scoot much, sold almost all my bikes, now it seems it's time to pick this classy scoot.
One doubt does it comes with carburetor or Fi as the modification "keeda" inside me is very keen on that.

I don't know too. The other day I was just thinking of getting a 3M PPF(Paint Protection Film) on this scooter but then suddenly I realized that mine is matte and that film would only make it glossy
But with the 3 coats of paint that Vespa boasts of, Simple wiping and periodic washing should be enough. I don't know if there are any matte polishes out there

and regarding the front number plate.
the dealer told that he will give the number plate. What he gives is nothing but a rectangular sticker with two lines of number. I asked him to cut it and put it in one line. He told its impossible. Even after me telling that its possible, he didn't attempt.

So I took that sticker from him and came home and did this.

Although it does spoil the beauty, its way better that what the dealer does

The problem hasn't resurfaced.
However I will check the air valve. Thanks Sedate

I current one is this

I checked the LS2 range. The open helmet we have right now is too tight for me. I might pick up one LS2 for me in the near future.

Hey Hemant, Congratulations for owning the best Scooter in India, Vespa S.

I could really relate to all the above statements, when I bought my White Vespa S in April. Mine has done about 460kms as of today, and gone through the 1st Service on 180kms. The experience till now has been wonderful.

I see that your beauty and beast both have the same number 0021

The white vespa confused us so much.
I had even decided to get a sticker treatment to match my car's stripes.

Ahh this must have been confusing isn't it!? Nevertheless any plans of getting the same stickering done for the MATT? And damn I was expecting the batt signals man!

Re: Our Matt Black Vespa S 125: Pricey, but exclusive

Today afternoon took test ride of the scooter and as I expected it was same feeling like other scooters, only difference was the design, personally I liked the VX and now have to decide on color with wife between white, yellow and metallic green.
To my surprise the salesgirl was aware of their premium 125 cc scooter 946.
The feel good factor was no need to carry 2T oil, set of tools as luggage, self start, no gear shifts, immediate delivery.
Disappointing things were almost dead pickup(I use to ride ported RD350) imagine my feelings after riding this scooter. Helmet I am sure I am not buying from them as it's half face and not going to protect the chin.

Yes, colour was the toughest decision of this buy.
If it was white, I would have got some stickers done. But I guess I will leave matt black as it is.
Red stripes on black are not to my tastes.
However when I was looking at some images over the internet, I liked the below one. May be when we get bored of the plain matt black (Which is unlikely), I'll try to source this.

Is the service interval only 3 months?
What about maintainence costs?

I am one prospective buyer of this beauty. Jealous on you dude.
By the way, apart from being criticized for its insane price, is there any other nibbles with the bike. Be it on the ASS front or quality of products used or running.
