There are few videos available in YouTube as well.
Above modification requires the frame to be altered, other option is chain drive, where the frame sits between the motor and engine (let me try to find the snap)
Purpose gets addressed, but reliability will be a big question mark.

I suggest to rethink.
Are you sure you really need a self start? This involves modification in the center case and there are possibilities you may end up with a crank case which is beyond the repairable limit.

Re: RX 135 Thread

A couple of pictures of my 2002 RX 135 4 Speed. I had briefly switched over to non - cat exhaust, but moved back to catcon after my daily running increased.

Re: RX 135 Thread

For lack of better thread, what is a reasonable price for okay condition RX135 of late 90's early 2000's vintage? The prices all over the place ranging from 35k to 85k. Difficult to judge.
Also, which version is more desirable of all the 135s? I love how the 5 speed version sounds with big black cat-con exhaust but those seem pretty rare and have turned up only twice in my search so far. The 4 speeder with chrome exhaust are available much more readily. This is not to say I won't be refurbishing the bike. In fact getting a neglected bike and bringing it up to its original spec is my aim, with some light modifications.
Thanks in advance, for the help!

Price depends on
- Mechanical & aesthetic condition
- Number of owners (which I don't mind when it comes to vintage stuffs)
- Fitness & documents validity
- Left out life of wear and tear parts (Tires, brake, clutch, battery)
- Value addition (modification and accessories)
- Supply vs demand (Geography)
- Greediness of the seller and Eagerness of the buyer

Since you mentioned a 'ok-ish' condition, I assume the bike has all parts in place and runs without any major issues, below is a rough estimate based on recent market value anything around 35k if documents are not in order (read, expired) and add 5k if it is live.

Recently completed a restoration and that costed close to 80k (without considering the base bike) Spares and labor cost are sky-rocketing these days.

If it is a brand new machine, we can debate on this subject. Since you are getting a used one, anything that is pampered or at least respected is a good choice. Since you are planning for a ground-up restoration, you can modify as per your liking later.

I owned almost all the variants of Yamaha two strokes. The best one is 1998-1999 YEIS Rx135. Rx135 5 speed is too much overrated now. So, insane prices for 5 speed.

Re: RX 135 Thread

Hey Guys, I need a little help. Does an RX100 ('95) and RX135 4speed('99) have same primary gear?

Primary drive grear - on paper (as per parts catalogue) they are different, but can be interchanged.

Re: RX 135 Thread

Thanks you Mr Boss for helping out. I have one more query. Is the "Gear Primary Drive" also same for Rx100 and 135 4spd. I am attaching a screenshot of the workshop manual below and refering to part no 25 from it. Since the names of the part no 11 and 25 are very similar I want to be completely sure of what I am doing with my bikes.
