re: Indian 2-wheeler Sales!

Interesting, would like to see Hero sales figure nationally domestic only.

From what we heard here in Gujarat, which is one of the biggest markets in September due to Navratri, Hero grew by around 20-22% and was ahead of Honda.

re: Indian 2-wheeler Sales!

Thanks for these stats, its interesting to see low numbers for Bajaj, even after all these years, BAL is still selling half of Hero & that's even after its breakup with Honda.

BAL is selling less than than one third of Hero + Honda combined. Is this the effect of paying too much focus on higher end bikes?

Re: Indian 2-wheeler Sales!

The folks at Management Punditz have started sharing monthly two-wheeler sales for each model, including many 200cc+ models and imported bikes!

Here is the February 2015 model-wise sales of Indian 2-wheelers:

Not sure where they are getting these figures. We ourselves sold 12 Hero Super Splendors in February and their data shows zero.

Let me tell you one thing, whatever figures are given in the monthly sales thread be it for 'cars' or the '2-wheelers' is ONLY "Factory Dispatches to dealerships" and NOT actual sales.

The 12 splendors that you say would have been in stock hence no need to get units from factory do it displays a '0'.

Re: Indian 2-wheeler Sales!

RE is the only brand to give a increasing sales trend with all the models except CGT (but it's negligible)

Makes sense.

I always wish for actual retail data as I believe it is a better indicator of the market and of course all companies already have the retail data thanks to electronic systems. It is well known that there has been vehicle dumping going on from both Honda and Hero over the past 3-4 months.

Re: Indian 2-wheeler Sales!

I have compiled a brief status for 2 wheeler sales in India. Please note that 2 wheeler includes Scooter, Motorcycle and Mopeds. Hero is undoubtedly the market leader in the 2 wheeler segment with ~40% market share over the past 2 years with Honda (~25%), TVS and Bajaj following respectively. It is interesting to note that TVS is the only manufacturer of mopeds in India with an annual sale of 7-7.5 lakh units. Source: SIAM

You have put Bajaj motorcycle share in scooter and vice versa

I think you have swapped "scooter" and "motorcycle" labels.
