Hero MotoCorp sells 1 million 2-wheelers in 37 days

Could this news clip of what the company claims to be true?

Quote:
Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler maker in terms of volume, claims to have sold over 1 million units in 37 days of the Diwali festive season this year. So on an average, over 27,000 Hero vehicles hit the roads every day during this festive season, which is a record that, possibly, no other two-wheeler maker in the world could ever do.

However, we think that it wasn't the number of units that Hero dispatched to its dealers, but the vehicles delivered to buyers by its dealers during the claimed period.

If this is true, why are its shares falling? Interesting!! The news articles says in October it sold 5.75 lakh vehicles. Does it mean it sold 4.25 lakh vehicles from Sept 25 to Sept 30? I can't figure this out

I can elaborate since we got mails about this last week itself.

They did sell 10 lakh units in those 37 days which covered the festival season. The 37 days are: September 25th - October 31st.

The numbers are certainly believable. If I just count our own figures, between September 25th to October 31st we sold approx. 4200 units and we were not number 1 in retail, around 4/5 in Gujarat. So Gujarat itself must have done around 90,000 - 1,00,000 lakh units in those 37 days.

Also, I assume this includes export orders which they had a few big ones in that time period.

As for the stock price, this is because the corporate dispatch was down 8% in October, though our own dealership has a growth in October and same is true for other dealers we know.
