The Indian motorcycle market is in expansion mode as more manufacturers are entering the fray. Regal Raptor motorcycles will also be entering India, and while official product launches are expected later this year, the brand will be assembling and eventually manufacturing motorcycles at a Hyderabad facility. The plant in question is being set up by Fabulous and Beyond Motors India.

Fab Motors will import machinery kits from the parent company’s manufacturing unit, located in Shanghai. The kits will be imported as CKDs and assembled in India. The products will be distributed to dealers in India as well as markets such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Yemen.

The Regal Raptor production facility is expected to involve an incremental investment of Rs 1,000 crore over the next four years. MG Shahriq, managing director of FAB Motors, said phase-I of the project will begin in a year and the plant will produce 500 units per shift a month. Shariq added that Regal Raptor motorcycles could be retailed through as many as 90 showrooms in India over this calendar year.

Initially, models like the Bobber, the Daytona 350 and the DD-350E-9B will be sold in India. All three models use a 320cc, twin-cylinder, fuel injected motor with output figures coming in at around 22.8 BHP/22 Nm of torque. Prices are expected to range from Rs 3-3.25 Lakh.

Not exactly sure what position this 3.25Lakh(Ex-Showroom?) cruiser is aiming for in the Indian market. For around 1 Lakh more you can buy the Street 750 which essentially is twice the bike in each and every aspect.

Just a note: Some other publications (including Business Standard) have stated that Regal Raptors is USA-based. Nope, this is Chinese motorcycle company with a seemingly western name.

Website URL

I'm not buying their tall claims just yet. They don't even have a contact address or phone number on their website, and the dealer section has a gmail address listed!! Spelling errors such as 'tale lights' and 'helmates' are common.

From their history section:

Quote:

Regal Raptor has been named after an exhausted and arduous journey of Mr. Horse Zhang. One sunny day, Mr. Horse Zhang who possess an adventurous personality, has started a big ride on motorcycle from Luoyang city located in the northern China back to his home town-Wenzhou. It was fantastic journey at that time as the distance between two cities-1600km, was so long. In the middle of the journey he arrived at one high mountain and stopped and felt extremely exhausted. Suddenly a breeze whipped him then he looked up ahead in the distance, a flying raptor into his eyes, immediately all his fatigues have disappeared, he just got refreshed and excited as well. In the next couple of days, he made it to Wenzhou with a great enlightenment. After that life-changing trip, Mr. Horse Zhang felt like a Raptor flying in the sky. This incident led him to the formation of Regal Raptor motorcycles.

Exactly. Plus that hardtail bobber is gonna have a hard time on most of our roads.

Imagine if the rear tyre hits a rock while negotiating a turn, One might experience the feel of a raptor flying in the sky then :D

Looks pretty good though. Twin rotors up front and that seat looks quite nice.

Regards,

BOV

I am just surprised they dont have "Exhausted Horse" as a model in their line up

They could sell helmates, kusstoom tale lites inn shaep uf da rifreshhing rapturr and mak veri veri much munny

This company is honestly very confusing. Apart from the description in the history section being something out of Kim Jong-Un's book, the expected pricing makes no sense. Why would you buy a bike that is barely on par with Royal Enfield's engineering for 3 lakh?

Output figure = 22 Nm @ 5k rpm on a cruiser? Even RE's 350 single-pot manages 28 Nm @ 4k. Power output is better, but unless you want to buy a really expensive showpiece, these machines make no sense.

Looking at their lineup and pictures, I don't think they qualify even for that!

I must say, unlike the car market, the motorcycle sector sees a lot of interest from suspicious (unscrupulous?) players. This is especially the case in the last 2 years.

Remember the stupid electric bike manufacturer - Terra Motors and their tall claims?

Or UM Motorcycles (link)?

All of these unknown manufacturers showcased bikes, launched lousy websites and then disappeared without a trace. Oh wait, some of them have merely 'delayed' plans (indefinitely).

I don't think there is a business case for cheap Chinese motorcycles in India. The mass market manufacturers (Hero, Bajaj, Honda etc.) are offering good quality at reasonable prices.

An Indian journalist unexpectedly runs into the Founder & CEO of this motorcycle company. The following is an (imaginary) informal conversation between the two:

Indian Journalist (IJ): Mr. Horse Zhang, Mr. Horse Zhang!
Regal Raptor Founder (RRF): Yes, baba!

IJ: Manufacturing ferrous horses?
RRF: Yes, baba.

IJ: What're they called?
RRF: Regal Raptors, baba.

IJ: Planning to fly 'em across the Himalayas?
RRF: No, baba.

IJ: Going to make 'em in India?
RRF: Yes, baba.

IJ: Size of their hearts?
RRF: 320cc, baba.

IJ: Price? Price?
RRF: 3 lacs +, baba.

Indian Journalist: Who'll buy & ride them?
Everyone Around: HA, HA, HA!!! :uncontrol

UM Motorcycles, although unknown and of rather cheap quality (got a chance to touch & feel in 2014) are managing to interest the budget conscious buyers.

UM is currently setting up dealerships and I hear that there is 1 coming up in Thane, MH.

Business case is doubtful, yes. But they are targeting Royal Enfield with these bikes.

If I may, now after owning an RE, can say that if Royal Enfield is the benchmark, they can surely match QC standards :D

Regal Raptor motorcycles will be launching their first Indian dealership on 9th June in Hyderabad with bookings opening with the showroom’s inauguration.

While the brand will be assembling its motorcycles in Hyderabad and plans to export the motorcycles to markets such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Oman, the official website is riddled with errors that can easily confuse any prospective buyers.

The Chinese usually build and sell at down to earth prices. Ex: Lenovo, Redmi etc phones. But look at the price of the 350cc and that looks. Its definitely not to my liking and priced ludicrously high.

I don't want others to see India as the top consumers of cheap things.

Their logo was picked from Harley. Copy cats!

130kmph in that bike is crazy.

Their Daytona looks like RE Thunderbird, Cruiser is Bajaj Avenger!
