It's not happening.

You will see two new Scooter models this year. New Premium models (expect another Xtreme that is closer to the original CBZ), plus HXR250cc. You will see more refresh models for the economy segment.

Er, does that mean that they are not bringing out any 200/250 CC versions?

Re: Rumour: Hero Impulse to get 200, 250 cc engines

Mm...its extremely disappointing. I always loved dual sports and was a dream come true when hero launched the impulse, but had to take a step back because of its engine capacity. I just couldn't come down from 250 to 150, unless it had an acceptable power output. It was quite a happy moment when there was a rumour about the impulse 200 and 225, but heres the real news..hero is bound on a contract with honda to make the latter's nxr bros model in the name of impulse, with the same engine specs, now hero cannot make any changes in the model without honda's permission (which they r highly unlikely to give )or atleast till the expiry of the contract.
HERO IS NOT RELEASING THE IMPULSE 225

Re: Rumour: Hero Impulse to get 200, 250 cc engines

Even if it's launched, a initial few thousands of innovators might buy the "imaginary" 250 cc Impulse.

What after that? Where would the mass that is responsible for keeping a business afloat profitable, come from?

In India, when motorcycles with 13 odd PS, 150 cc engine sell consistently in handsome numbers just because of its artificially puffed up, plastic body work and a FAT rear tyre..

.. would someone repeat another mistake by making another "Anemic" looking model (even with a 250 cc engine which was basically cooked up by the fertile imagination of so called bloggers?)..??

My man - look at the Honda CBR250R - it exists in showrooms only on paper. Out of Delhi and Gurgaon - I could only find a couple of dealers stocking it. Asking for the ABS version resulted in stunned silence and a polite refusal.

Compared to that, Impulse 225 is again dead in the water. Honda just won't release it. They know the market too well for that.

Re: Rumour: Hero Impulse to get 200, 250 cc engines

Hero will launch the their new HX250R next year for a new premium segment bike. It will have very few buyers outside big metros. They will launch refreshed versions of XTreme. Hero's main focus will be competing against CB Shine and Pulsar.

We were carrying two year old Impulses that nobody wanted to buy, in the end we got rid of them at 20,000-30,000 Rs. discount.

Yes, the HXR 250 is a street bike, but the impulse is of a different category, the category which i love the most because of its suitability to our roads. People most often get confused between an offroader/trial bike with that of a dual sport. Impulse is a dual sport motorcycle. I am a constant goer to cross country, 2 trips from bagalore to Leh, enroute kadrugla is added to my profile, and i know the importance of a dual sport which can take on any type of terrain, if not with ease, atleast with confidence. The impulse 225 with the karizma engine was a great thinking, if only it were true.

Here is mine. Looking for selling but not getting right price in my region. Also hero's service is not up to the mark. The bike has great potential particularly for indian road condition. Ride quality is easily the best. Cruise through rough road at 60-70 kmph without any problems.

That still looks like the Impulse engine to me. I may be wrong!

Re: Rumour: Hero Impulse to get 200, 250 cc engines

This rumour has started off at a very interesting time i.e. just when the RE Himalayan was launched. There seems to be lot of buzz and interest around Himalayan, and suddenly out of no-where a market for adventure bikes has come up.
Hero could actually succeed, if they come up with a 250cc impulse, going by the interest people are showing in the Himalayan.

Re: Rumour: Hero Impulse to get 200, 250 cc engines

Recently after the success @Dakar2017, the Hero Rally team was in full strength at the Desert Storm- and my only question to them was 'why the hell are you doing all this if other than the ten days of glory, you people are not going to put any of this on the road. You could not get the 250cc engine from Honda to rejuvenate the Impulse- so now...?'
They were very positive in their answer that they would be releasing the 250 which is in trials as of now- soon.
I told them that the Dominar and the KTMs rule the 400-segment- and they should just sink the 250-
But it seems they cannot get their heads out of the 'commuter bike hole' that they are looking into.
Bajaj and their proposed KTM 790 twin seems to be the bike to wait for.
Stuff dreams are made of.

Re: Rumour: Hero Impulse to get 200, 250 cc engines

^^ I have a close relative working for Hero and I can very safely confirm that there simply is no action around the Impulse whatsoever

As you rightly mentioned, they have their heads firmly shoved into the commuter hole

How much would 1000 units per month (monthly average of Himalayan) interest Hero is anyone's guess.

Better quit hopes from Hero guys
