Re: KTM to part-build Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen, Svartpilen in India

Oh, there were plans to launch the 401 in India early this year, not jist speculation.
Before getting the 250 I was checking the Husqvarna India website and I took this screenshot.
They were about to launch it in April 2020.
I guess covid made them rethink.

Spotted these at the showroom in Wellington, New Zealand. It is quite possible they are shipped from India. It did not take too long to notice that the block was indeed identical to the one on the KTM 390. Curious to know if the oil used on these bikes are from Motorex. The Husqvarna and KTM's have Motorex branding on their engine cases.

Made in India KTM

Export versions run with Motorex because of a global deal between KTM and Motorex, they dropped Motul. Indian versions still run with the Motul/Bajaj oils.

Yes, 401 has been put off to May 2021, atleast. This has been confirmed by local KTM dealer day before yesterday. Covid has hit their plans very hard.

Re: KTM to part-build Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen, Svartpilen in India

I have seen the pics and seen the bike in the flesh.

Seeing this bike in the showroom on a pedestal and under spotlights, it looks amazing.

Seen a few 250's on-road, they do look awkward with the rider. Even absurd IMO. The short tail really is a buzzkill for me.

Apparently, the sale numbers are not as high as anticipated, even with the introductory price for the 250.

Re: KTM to part-build Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen, Svartpilen in India

Was in the market for a Svartpilen 401 and came across this KISKA design article on Jalopnik. Thought would be interesting to share with fellow members here. The design thinking of KISKA for KTM vs Husqvarna on their moodboards (left and right resp.) show how apart Duke/RC 390s and Svart/Vitpilen 401s are in their design, though they share almost all the underlying components with each other.

Re: KTM to part-build Husqvarna 401 Vitpilen, Svartpilen in India

Whilst casually browsing the internet on my phone during a metro train ride, I read somewhere (can't remember where now) that the 401 Huskies were expected to be launched by Oct 2022.

Is this true? Can anyone confirm this?
