Royal Enfield enters Indonesian market

Royal Enfield has announced its entry into the Indonesian market at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The company will focus on the mid-size motorcycle segment (250-750cc). Indonesia is the third largest two-wheeler market in the world.

Royal Enfield will commence retail operations in the coming months. It is setting up and exclusive dealership in Jakarta in partnership with PT Distributor Motor Indonesia, who have signed- up as a dealer for the region. In addition to the store, they will also provide service and aftermarket parts for Royal Enfield in Jakarta.

Depending on the response, the company plans to expand its footprint to the other key cities in Indonesia.

Royal Enfield displayed its range of motorcycles at GIIAS 2015 including the Bullet 500cc, the Classic 500cc and Classic Chrome, and the Continental GT (535cc) cafe racer. Along with the motorcycles, the company also displayed its collection of gear that includes protective riding gear and its recently launched Despatch Rider apparel and accessories collection.

Re: Royal Enfield enters Indonesian market

This will determine whether they are really cut out to be an international player.

A developing country which will find their prices attractive, yet are much more exposed to modern motorcycles and don't have any sort of wishy-washy sentiments about the brand unlike Enfield India's captive market.
