Congrats. Whats the offer, if you are ok to disclose - 75K? Also, do they install the windshield just before delivery?

Do you have any comparison to share - CBR Vs GS?

Re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

Looks like the bike is discontinued(??)

While the website models list still has both 310r and 310gs listed, clicking them for the details takes to 404 pages. All other models details page work.

The BS6 Version is yet to launch, which is why they are not showing up on website.

Expected changes:
LED headlamps
Slipper clutch (as TVS 310rr has got it with BS6)

Re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

Visiting this thread after a long time.
Quote:
Users of G310GS: Is the stock windscreen enough? Or do we need additional windscreen? I think the squarish type windscreen sold by many is bit too tall. Do you see through the windscreen like a car, or is it below your eye level while normal riding?
Enough for what is the question and answer differs from people to people. 310gs is not a very fast bike and is comfortable at 90-100kmph. At those speeds, a very tall windshield is not really a must. But so called "Adventure bike" imagification includes a tall screen, people go for it. In reality, an after-market tall screen from the likes of Puig, Givi, etc will increase the wind buffeting by directing them towards the helmet. With shorter windscreen, its more spread out, hence more relaxed under the helmet. So although i have an aftermarket windscreen on my bike, i feel its not really critical for our 310cc bikes.

Here's sharing some pics from last week off-road outing. we had great fun as amateurs trying out tough terrain in hot weather conditions. Please note that the pics do do justice to the actual terrain. Good learning all in all.

Not sure if this video was shared here. I came across this as I was randomly skimming through YouTube. They have made some cool changes to the bike and in my head it has made the bike exactly the way I would want it as a small beginner ADV bike.

Hey swiftnfurious! Apologies for the delayed response (Blame the current scenario).

The offer price for me was 2.9 On Road (after discounts) with some freebies thrown in (a helmet I believe). Anyway, I didn't proceed with the same as this lockdown and increase in Covid19 cases + approaching BS4 date caused me to tread cautiously and hence, I left out the Motorcycle Buying decision for now. My Veronica (CBR) is going good as of now.

Coming to the comparison of CBR 150R to a G 310 GS, first and foremost, the increase in power was too evident. The GS isn't the most powerful motorcycle in its segment, not by a long shot (Read: Ktm 390 Duke), but the power on offer and it's delivery is more than enough for our Indian roads, cities and highways. I can't comment much and as accurately, because my opinion is based on a lifetime of CBR 150R ownership and just a long test drive of the GS.

What is also a very noticeable on the GS is the long travel suspension. When you come from a supersport styled motorcycle to a straight sitting, comfortable and plush riding adventure motorcycle, you ought to feel as if you're riding on clouds. The long travel suspension does invite some nose dive while hard braking, but nothing too unnerving.

The difference in riding posture on the GS and the CBR is stark. It's apples and oranges. On the CBR you sit in a hunkered down stance with almost all your weight on the wrists, whereas in the GS you sit straight and the handlebar is reachable comfortably (I'm 5'11") which translates into stress-free riding for a long time.

Talking about the street presence, the CBR in itself has some good presence in its class, but the GS trumps that by a good margin. It looks like, and as well is, a big BMW motorcycle.

I did spot some negatives while test riding the GS which I think can relate to the test drive piece. The throttle was a little jerky in the mid-range, there was some vibration near the instrument console and a particular slight vibration was felt near the thigh area (almost unnoticeable). Was able to spot these as the engine on the CBR is butter smooth, correction. Melted-butter smooth.

All in all, it was supposed to be a perfect upgrade to a bigger, comfortable and a more versatile motorcycle from a reputed brand.

Current situation: holding off the buying decision until the situation relaxes a little bit as some liquidity is required till the covid19 cases subside and the economy starts recovering.

Cheers and Safe (Socially Distanced) Riding!

The GS boys recently attended a dirt school session at Big Rock Dirt Park, a motocross and adventure riding school close to Bengaluru. Had heaps of fun!

Some pics from a recent ride around Bangalore outskirts. These bikes are good fun off the road.

PS: the top boxes were intentional as we were going to get some seasonal fruits in them, else they are better off-the-bike in such conditions where a fall is normal.

Those interested in the 310GS prowess will get to see how the bike does.

Fun is an understatement of what we had

Re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

After dilly-dallying on many top boxes, I bought BMW 29L top box yesterday. You can see it in detail in following installation video:

I was worried whether 29L will be too small for storing a full size jacket, and whether 40+ Liter will be too huge on baby GS. However as you can see below, my touring motorcycle jacket fitted very comfortably in the lower half. The top box can easily accommodate two full size jackets with possibly gloves / one pair of jacket and riding trouser with gloves very easily.

BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh-img_20200728_130919.jpg

With current 30% discount (till 31st July as per BMW), it costed me 6300rs, down from MRP of Rs.9000.

Installation is extra 500, and BMW logo is 1100! Both of which are optional.

The low seat is at Rs.2460, which reduces the height by 150mm. It doesn't sound much, but I think 2460 for a company lowered seat is a good option. Abroad it costs $400!

Re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

Many including myself were cribbing about halogen headlamp in BMW 310 twins. This is solved in the upcoming BS6 versions.

TVS RR310 already comes with LED headlamp. It is a complete unit, and LEDs can't be changed individually, whole assembly needs to be changed, which costs Rs.28,000! If TVS charges more than 10% of bike cost, I fear the cost of BMW counterpart! So putting good LED lamp in existing headlamp assembly suddenly doesn't seem so bad.

Yes, The attached mailer is what we received from the dealer. As it is the last gen 310gs had very appealing aesthetics, presence and stance, but with the RED frame, blacked out engine components, the BS6 bikes will be super hot for sure. Technical details and changes with respect to the out-going model are not yet out, but whats surely visible is the new LED headlight with good looking horizontal DRL. Hope these are interchangeable with last gen. Wishful thinking
Barring this, and new colour scheme doubt if there will be any other major changes. From the spy pics, there seems like no colour tft screen, or ride by wire, rider modes. Doubtful on slipper clutch and or quick shiftier. I am personally OK without all these tech and gizmos. Dont think they matter so much on a 300CC bike or the overall ride experience it brings to the table. BMW claims the BS6 is more refined, hope thats true. The previous gen bikes were refined enough except towards redline and if they have managed to improve it further, most welcome. Any other extra feature is bonus.
Whats really interesting is that BMW intends to price it between 4 to 4.2L otr. Could be the reason they have stayed away from making it tech heavy. We all know the previous gen 310 twins were over priced, and inspite of being very capable bikes, did not sell in numbers. The BS6 variants with OTR price of about 4-4.2 makes for a good contender in adv segment. Folks looking at KTM 390Adv (which retails at close to 4L) will surely check the baby beemer out and some may even swing that way.
