re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

BMW Motorrad starts production of G310R in India

Production of the BMW G310R has commenced at TVS Motor's plant in India. The G310R is the first product coming from the Indo-German alliance of BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company. Under this joint venture, the G310R will be locally manufactured at the TVS production facility in Hosur, near Bengaluru.

The G310R is the smallest capacity motorcycle ever produced under the BMW Motorrad name. It will be made in India and exported to markets like Europe, Australia, and other Asian countries.

BMW Motorrad is expected to launch the G310R in India in October this year. In the Indian market, this bike will compete with the KTM Duke 390 and Mahindra Mojo.

Good News ! Any idea on estimated price? If it is going to compete with Duke 390 or Mojo, It has to be priced at around 2 Lakh. I don't think BMW will do that .

Price vice, I guess it will be competing with the likes of Benelli TnT 300 and Ninja Z250

It should be priced like how the Duke was priced when launched due to the fact that the manufacturing is localised which is not the case with Benelli or Kawa.

I too hope so, It will be great value if priced like Duke 390, but being BMW and its snob value, I doubt it will be priced so good

I am actually confused between Pulsar CS 400 and BMW G310R, given if the price bracket is same. According to the estimates, CS400 would be launched in August 2016 and G310R in October. Guess I will wait for the BMW to launch, check both the bikes in and out, and then make a decision.

They might follow the KTM way. The BMW G 310 would be priced higher and there might be a TVS version which will be priced lower I guess.

re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

Since it's being built and exported from India, it should definitely be priced aggressively and I believe the price of 1.8L doing rounds should be true. With the price of Duke 200 @ 1.5L & Duke 390 @ 2L, the G310 R should fall right in the middle of that price band, at the least that's where Duke 300 would have been, if it existed. So BMW to see some good sales numbers should price aggressively.

re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

I am actually confused. All the articles are saying that the bike was launched in UK for 4290 Pounds. Yet, they are all saying that the amount in rupees is around 1.8L. The direct conversion from Pound to Rupees calculates to around 3.7L. Could someone please throw some light on this?

If the bike is really going to be priced around 1.7-1.8L ex-showroom, it will be an awesome package. Something drool worthy.

Following are the links for the same:

KTM Duke 390 - GBP 4549, INR 1.96L
BMW G310R - GBP 4290, INR 1.8L**

**This must be the rationale behind the claims / guesses, as both the bikes are made in India.

re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

I think the top speed of the bike has been capped electronically at 145kmph. Reason being, Pulsar RS200 has got 24.5 PS of power and its top speed is around 140kmph. BMW G310R has got 34hp of power, yet its top speed is around 145kmph. Would there be any hack or way to remove that capping once you own the bike?

re: BMW G310R & G310GS launched at Rs. 2.99 - 3.49 lakh

The official specs are out for International Market and India isn't listed as one of the markets where its available(Link)

There are multiple articles that have come up on doubting whether it would released in India or not (Link)

Quote:
In the list of countries where the BMW G 310 R will be sold, India is not currently on the list. BMW Motorrad doesn’t have a dealer presence in the country and its premium offerings are delivered to the customer’s location by Navnit Motors, a BMW dealership of cars, at least that’s what it says on the site. Small volumes can be handled in such ways but the BMW G310R will sell in larger numbers and require more specialised infrastructure.

A reason for the Germans lack of interest in bringing the BMW G310R, might be because of an agreement between TVS, as the latter also helped in the development of the bike. So the BMW G310R sold in India can be a rebadged TVS G310R or like what Bajaj does with KTM, sharing of platforms and engines but different body styles.
If BMW does release the bike in India with any sort of TVS badging, then bye bye snob value

Not sure if the news is confirmed (OD is a reputed org so I'd like to believe so) - if so, this is horrible news.
