Royal Enfield enters Thailand; opens store in Bangkok

Royal Enfield has announced its entry into Thailand at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2015. It is planning to concentrate on the global mid-sized motorcycle segment (250-750cc).

The company displayed its entire range of motorcycles at the Thailand International Motor Expo including the Bullet 500cc, Classic 500cc, Classic Chrome and Continental GT (535cc) cafe racer. The brand also introduced its latest gear and accessories collection for the Thailand market.

Royal Enfield will commence its retail operations at Thonglor in the city of Bangkok in the coming months. It will launch an exclusive dealership in Bangkok, which is being set up in partnership with General Auto Supply (GA). In addition to the store, GA is also expected to develop service and aftermarket facilities for Royal Enfield in the region.

Royal Enfield, a part of Eicher Motors, is the oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production, with roots dating back to 1901 in Redditch, England. The company claims that it has had a year-on-year growth of over 50% over the last five years.

Thailand is among the largest two wheeler markets in the world with over 16 lakh two-wheeler commuters, making it an important market.

In the past few months Royal Enfield has set up stores in London, Madrid, Paris, Dubai, Bogota and Medellin. In 2014, the company sold more than 300,000 motorcycles globally.

In the calendar year 2015, Royal Enfield aims to produce 4,50,000 motorcycles. By the end of 2018, it plans to roll out up to 9,00,000 motorcycles from two of its existing manufacturing facilities and a third upcoming facility in Tamil Nadu, India.
