Honda CB Hornet 160R launched at Rs. 79,900

Honda has launched a new 160cc motorcycle based on their new unicorn 160cc platform, called 'Hornet 160R'.

The new bike derives its design clues from the 'CX 01' concept shown at the 2014 Delhi auto expo.

The design is sportier and is appealing.

Comes with front and rear disc brakes, combined braking system(CBS), wider tyres etc, it is launched as a sportier alternative to the unicorn 160 replacing the Honda Trigger. With the same engine as unicorn's, Hornet is launched at 79, 900(ex-showroom Delhi).

More pics here

Although this is a great looking bike and will give the fz's and gixxer's hot competition, but stating this as the CX-01 final product would be dissappointing.

The CX concept really made me drool when it was showcased in the auto expo, it was a stunning iteration for a modern bike.

Undoubtedly the Hornet is the most visually hot production bike that has been offered in the Indian market by Honda.

I am wondering why has Honda not brought anything in the "Karizma...ish category yet.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R launched at Rs. 79,900

It is reported that Honda is planning to give an early update to their recently launched Hornet 160r motorcycle. The update comes in the form of a new premium switch-gear that will house the much asked for 'engine kill switch'.

Hornet appeared to be an interesting product from Honda's stable, but was much criticized for its basic switch-gear and missing 'engine kill' switch.
But now, the report suggests that HMSI has taken up all the criticisms seriously and is contemplating to give an engine kill switch along with an 'improved' switch-gear for better fit and finish.

Most likely, the updated Hornet will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016.

Bumping on this thread too late. What is the status of this? Have they introduced the 'kill switch' and bettered the switch gear?

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R launched at Rs. 79,900

Honda CB Hornet 160R special edition launched at Rs.81,413

Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has introduced a special edition of the CB Hornet 160R. The special edition model gets new colours and body graphics, and is priced at Rs. 81,413 for the standard trim and Rs. 85,912 for the CBS trim. (All prices ex-showroom, Delhi)

The Honda CB Hornet 160R special edition gets two new colours. The bike is given an all-black theme, while Striking Green and Mars Orange decals are added on the fuel tank and cowls. While the standard Hornet comes with silver inserts on the under seat panels, rider foot pegs, and exhaust heat cover, all these panels on the special edition Hornet have been painted black. Other single tone colours are still on offer with the regular Hornet 160R.

There aren’t any mechanical changes on the 160R special edition, as it continues to draw power from a 162.71cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which is capable of generating 15.6 BHP @ 8,500rpm and 14.76 Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R launched at Rs. 79,900

Honda CB Hornet 160R gets new colour options

Honda has revamped the colour options of the CB Hornet 160R. The company has added two new colours - Athletic Blue Metallic and Sports Red. Both these colours get some white detailing on the fuel tank and below the rider seat.

Meanwhile, the regular single-shade colours - Orange Metallic, Sports Red, Pearl Amazing White, Pearl Nightstar Black and Pearl Siren Blue, have been discontinued. In addition to the aforementioned two new colours, the Hornet 160R can also be opted with the Striking Green and Mars Orange schemes, which were introduced as a special edition in August last year.

The CB Hornet 160R is already compliant with BS-IV emission norms. It is powered by a 162.71 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that now puts out 15.05 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 14.76 Nm of torque @ 6,500 rpm. This marks a slight decrement in power output as the Hornet's engine was earlier rated at 15.6 BHP. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed gearbox. The bike is now lighter by around 2 kg, as the standard version weighs 138 kg and the CBS equipped model tips the scales at 140 kg.

Prices (ex-showroom, Delhi)
• CB Hornet 160R Std - Rs. 82,095
• CB Hornet 160R CBS - Rs. 86,595

Looks like Honda has reduced power across all it's 150/160cc bikes.

Unicorn 160 (14Ps from 14.5)
Unicorn 150 (12.9Ps from 13.3)
Hornet (15.2Ps from 15.9)

Absolutely baffling strategy!

Honda Hornet 160 R now gets a single-channel ABS and also a new LED headlight, with no mechanical changes. It has been unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 and may be launched by March/April 2018, by which time the mandatory ABS rule will be in place.

Wish they had bumped the bhp and provided a engine kill switch as well. in the 150 - 180cc segment this is still the good looking bike.
