re: December 2015 - 2 Wheeler Sales in India with model-specific data

Bajaj sales 247782 sales and their best seller is CT at 34480. The other brands they have are Avenger, Platina, Discover, and Pulsar, and nothing else. So, even if the other 4 brands sell one unit less than CT at 34479, it adds to 172396. Thats a deficit of 75386 units. Exports?

re: December 2015 - 2 Wheeler Sales in India with model-specific data

With several variants including some mild Sports bikes introduced this year, brand Pulsar is no longer in the top ten.
Time for Bajaj to do something radical, before the situation gets worse.
They cannot rely on budget vehicles (CT, Discover) also, because, Hero dominates that segment with Splendor, Passion etc.

Very good catch. Apparently almost half of Bajaj's volumes comes from exports (As opposed to 5% for Hero). Africa (mainly Nigeria), Asian countries and Russia are key markets.

I never knew that Honda has overtaken Bajaj Auto, but knew all along & always said, this will happen someday or the other.

Bajaj relaunches the Discover 125. It is the same thing [design wise & maybe engine wise too] which they had launched in 2004. Explains..

The new Splendor Pro is probably the biggest factor in the huge Splendor decline

Nigeria surely accounts for most number of export bikes from Bajaj. During my short stint in the country (Lagos, Nigeria), I invariably used to see the Bajaj bikes being used as a taxi - yes to carry people on board from source and drop them in their destination. This is one of the most important mode of transport for the people there, due to the paucity of public transportation in the country. And every bike riders will have a spare helmet to be used by the passenger.

  • From the data, I could see CB Unicorn is selling in triple digits - is that true?
  • Passion has lost 34%, while the sales of FZ is almost halved .
  • Pulsar is losing its shine, but the Avenger with a sales jump of 276% have saved Bajaj from blushes.
  • With the new Apache 200 4V being launched, Pulsar may lose its crown to Apache soon.
  • And is that the last batch of Karizma's being shipped?
