When that LE Palio was launched Fiat was reasonably doing well and they did get God (of Cricket) to autograph their car but mostly the poor FE went against the car.

As for the fiat, until they get their house in order, even god's autograph could not have helped them at that point.

Hi there. I read elsewhere on the Interweb discussing this bike that the type of steel used on the INS Vikrant may not necessarily be the best for motorcycles.

Any metallurgical truth to that?

Cheers

The steel taken from INS Vikrant cannot be used directly.

I will be molted and treated to be made usable as per the current norms/standards.

Re: The Bajaj V - A motorcycle made with INS Vikrant's steel

I for one was little apprehensive when I heard that Bajaj thought of something like this. Yes it is good that people buying this will think that they are owning a piece of India but the way Bajaj is marketing it makes me cringe! Well in the end its business for them and they have to market the product. Lets hope they have come up with a good product to support all their marketing strategy.

Why not put the NS400 mill and make it a proper café racer?

This is not a new phenomenon! I wonder how many of you remember topaz blades (pre twin blade era?) Made using steel from the old ins Delhi.
Yes, the steel used on a warship cannot be used directly, needs to be melted and treated.
Finally, regarding the debate of Indian or British, most of the ship's hull, over a period of time, was replaced as part of maintenance (or Refit as it is called).

The Retro design in the silhouette keeps me interested in the launch, though i am not a big fan of Bajaj.

Re: The Bajaj V - A motorcycle made with INS Vikrant's steel

Finally the Bike is launched, very different from the current designs of Bikes. Nice stance, i liked the model except for the from front dome. Some good mat finished colors will be nicer then the current colors given.

The bike looks decent, wouldn't a round headlamp will look much better. The kind of attention and advertising is done by bajaj, it should have been launched with bigger engine and later they could have launch a 150cc version.

Re: The Bajaj V - A motorcycle made with INS Vikrant's steel

The styling of this bike is confusing for me. I am not able to reach any side of the shore and can't decide whether I like this bike or not.
I think a visit to showroom will help me in making my opinion.
As of now, what I can clearly see is headlamp design is inspired from the headlight design of Pulsar 400 CS concept.

That head lamp design reminds me of old Yamaha Libero, overall bike looks decent.

Re: The Bajaj V - A motorcycle made with INS Vikrant's steel

I love the Moto Guzzi Griso inspired looks. Very fresh looking. If I were to nitpick, I'd probably also want more rounded RVMs.

Do they have two different models or is it the angle of the photo? Because the rake angle of the front forks looks different on the white and black bikes.

Completely agree with you. But i think the target segment may not welcome a bike with round headlight.

The Bike looks pretty nice, but the engine specs are disappointing. Could have been better even for a 150cc. It does makes me think couldn't it have become a worthy highway companion, had it only got the right hardware. What a revolution Bajaj could have created.

Re: The Bajaj V - A motorcycle made with INS Vikrant's steel

the initial manufacturing capacity would be 20,000 units a month and the expected pricing would be around 60-70K
