TVS Akula 310 unveiled

TVS unveiled the faired version of the BMW G310R today during the Auto Expo 2016 in a race-spec variant.

Called the Akula 310, this is one jaw-dropping eye-popping design !

The TVS Akula 310 is Russian for shark” and also a submarine class. Styling is incredibly racy, front to the rear the motorcycle speaks volumes about TVS manufacturing prowess and now even design. The concept introduced under TVS racing banner has a lot of tech bristling, foremost being the carbon fibre body work and the aluminum trellis sub frame. While the carbon fibre isnt any indicator, the aluminium sub frame clearly indicates what the production motorcycle could have.

Several lightweight components have gone into the motorcycle and details will follow shortly on all that this motorcycle has to offer. USD forks, radial calipers, force fed airbox and a quick shift 6-speed transmission will be some of the highlights.

The TVS Akula 310 also has a heat management system etched into the bodywork using some clever design. This is essentially what the gill like appendages on the motorcycle do, in addition to also working to enhance stability and reducing drag for enhanced aerodynamics.

Full function digital speedo, on board gyro cameras and a steering damper are additional bits that will add credence to its dynamic abilities. However it remains to be seen if all the features showcased on the concept make it to production.

Front full-fairing and naked rear don't seem to go too well together. Design is way over the top and seems unpolished.

Love the design. Looks minimalistic and purpose-built - unlike the usual 'we have the biggest tank shrouds' designs that TVS comes up with for Expos.

I hope that by the time they fix series production parts - mirrors, rear mudguard, pillion grab handle, lights - and remove all the racing bits, it still looks good.

Really really hope that TVS comes up with a much better name. Not the Akula - please. Sounds like a deadly parasite to me. Keep it simple, TVS - any letter in the alphabet with 310 as suffix will do. Don't think too much.

Holy mother !! I'm stunned , this is one gorgeous functional looking bike, really amazed at what TVS comes out with in the competition arena. I just wish they would launch more of their 'special' bikes that they use for competitors in street-legal versions

Just when I was wishing for a fully faired, dedicated supersport bike from TVS hope this comes into production soon

Wow is this beautiful or what! This tie up is coming up with seriously impressive motorcycles. Consumers are really winning now!

BMW should really bring it to market. Any rough idea on pricing?

This will be amazing. TVS does make some really good bikes. I've always loved the Apache series. Though the headlight looks really odd on the new 160 & 180 RTR series.

The 200V is an amazing machine, with a good amount of power and torque, with ABS and Pirelli Diablo Corsa tyres.

If the Akula 310 is anything like that, it'd make for an amazing machine to spank around a track. Sadly, no tracks near Mumbai at all...

Re: TVS Akula 310 unveiled

Rear looks disproportionate and "empty". Will need to put some sort of mudguard (like the pulsars and KTMs have) when riding this on our mucky roads.

Anyway, don't like the name and don't like the design.

Buddy, since that's a concept for the track, that's how it would be. The street legal version will come with the mudguard and also the saree guard. I doubt the Carbon Fibre part though.

Now the name and design are a personal choice, so cannot comment on those.

Re: TVS Akula 310 unveiled

Finally the Akula 310 hits the streets for testing, and it sure looks big and stylish too

Not sure if the headlamps are HIDs or if they have an LED DRL though.

As per PowerDrift, there's a chance that the Akula will be launched as it was showcased in the Auto-Expo.

Re: TVS Akula 310 unveiled

What a bad name.

I am often surprised at how decisions are taken in various Indian companies. no accountability. A clear sign of groupthink.

It's like nobody asked what does Akula mean?

Akula = 'A Kul': without any qualities. Though I dont agree with the definition in the link below, can also mean low born.
