Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

Big shoutout to Tushar for shooting these pictures & his coverage of the Auto Expo. Thanks for sharing, man!
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-z.jpg

Honda's big launch is the Navi - cross breed of a scooter and a motorcyle. It has been priced at Rs. 39,500 (ex-showroom Delhi):
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-9.jpg

Powered by a 109.19cc 4-stroke, air cooled petrol engine producing 8 BHP (@ 7000 rpm) and 8.96 Nm (@ 5500 rpm), mated to an automatic transmission:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-8.jpg

A lot of parts on the Navi are shared with its stable mates:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-12.jpg

As an example to the above point, its wheels are from the Activa:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-13.jpg

A corona ring like the BMWs:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-10.jpg

Even though it's a budget 2-wheeler, Honda have done their best to make it appealing. Notice the faux carbon fibre around the fuel tank:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-11.jpg

Tushar says that it does bear an uncanny resemblance to the MSX Grom 125:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-14.jpg

It's is available in 5 colour options – Patriot Red, Hopper Green, Shasta White, Sparky Orange and Black:

Also, on display were some accessorized models. Just to show how easy this bike is to customize:

This one looks like an off-road concept:

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

Then there was these Honda simulators to promote safe riding among the youth and new riders:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-g-1.jpg

First choose a bike / gearless scooter:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-g-3.jpg

Wear the headphones (hanging on the handlebar). Use the actual handle bar...
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-g-4.jpg

...and pedals:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-g-5.jpg

Select your course:
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-g-6.jpg
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-g-7.jpg

Get acquainted with the controls...
Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016-g-9.jpg

...and off for a joy ride. Instructions are given on the headphones regarding gear changes, accelerator / brake input, indicators etc. Its basic purpose is to inculcate good riding habits among riders:

Combi brake simulator - it explains the Combi brake system. Press any lever and the brake pressure goes to both wheels rather than individual wheels. Prevents skidding and helps improve control. In the simulator, you have to accelerate and hit the brake on time or you crash.

Combi brake system (CBS) will be mandatory for vehicles below 125 cc from April 2017:

A 1:500 scale model of Honda 2-wheelers' factory in Vithalapur, Gujarat. It is the world’s largest only scooter plant and it has an annual capacity of 1.2 million units:

Great pictures and coverage there, thanks for sharing!!

Honda - I do not care about your concepts, give me my CBR 300 or atleast CBR 250 with dual headlamps and take my money.

Does the Hornet 160r on display has a new switch-gear?
There were some reports and speculations that honda would update the Hornet with a new premium switchgear and an engine-kill switch.
Has anyone checked it out?

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

Tushar...a huge shoutout to you for capturing these pics. thanks for sharing S2.
That Navi is one interesting scootercycle. Looks nice and priced quite well too. For someone bored with current mundane scooters in the market and looking for out of the box design...this would be great option.

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

The Navi looks like a fun city roundabout. Though I wish they had launched the Grom instead. I have been eagerly waiting buy something small and fun, such as the Grom, and I don't even ride a bike!

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

No CBR 300? CBR 250 is a decently priced bike and CBR 300 may also be sensibly priced. But it seems it will not make it to India soon!

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

What about the PCX 150 Scooter? and also the other larger capacity scooters that Honda was planning to showcase? I was sure they were launching the PCX150 here. Disappointed big time :(

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

If Navi can be customized to carry a laptop bag on that "empty block", I am sure it will find a lot of takers in Bangalore.

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

Navi - a really, really nice looking bike for the price of a smartphone!
I am thinking of picking up one even though I can't think of a use for the bike right now.

That's the power of design. Well done Honda!

Re: Honda Motorcycles @ Auto Expo 2016

I am surprised at the old CB Unicorn 150 being showcased and the Unicorn 160 is conspicuous by its absence. Is Honda bringing back the Unicorn 150 ? Not sure if the Unicorn 160 is selling as much as the 150 did. I personally prefer the macho looks of the 150 to the puny 160.
