Revolta Motors @ Auto Expo 2016

Revolta Motors presented two new EV concepts at the 2016 Auto Expo, coming in at a very opportune time, given the recent crackdown on emissions and pollution. The Bangalore-based startup believes in zero-emission travelling and is getting investors on board to produce short-medium distance commuting vehicles for urban usage.

The UFO or Urban Fun Object. Expected to hit the market in 2017:

LED headlight:

Stopping power at the front comes from a disc brake. Why?...

...it's because the UFO can hit speeds of up to 70 km/h:

The concept gets an adjustable rear suspension and a 3 KW high-torque rear hub motor:

Revolta has designed it with an on-board 220V charger and a lithium-ion battery pack. A detachable battery system is on the books as well:

The feature list will also include a digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity:

The range on a full charge is expected to be around 80 kms:

LED tail light too:

Magic-box - a two-wheel pick-up concept!

This cargo EV can target small business owners or even popular delivery services by restaurants, e-commerce sites etc:

LED headlight here too:

Top speed = 60 km/h. Range = 60 kms:

The magic-box has a load capacity of 100 kg and will feature GPS tracking:

LED tail light and a quirky rear end. It will be fine tuned for better aesthetics if/when produced:

Couldn't these fellows choose a less "revolting" name that "REVOLTA?

I remember there was also a mens inner wear brand called Rivolta many years ago - always used to laugh at it...

In my opinion, although electric vehicles are the future, their effectiveness from environmental point of view are presently limited considering the fact that the electricity generation in the India is still based on fossil fuels. Also the disposal of battery cell is another issue. I feel the government need to do a lot more to reduce the emission load.

Not to mention the fact that there exists absolutely zero infrastructure to facilitate charging of such vehicles. Majority of the folks in metros live in flats and vehicles are parked below.

Yes one can obtain permission from housing society and extend the connection from one's flat to the parking but it'll be a cumbersome affair. Plus the power outlet will have to be kept under a lock and key mechanism to avoid any misuse by anyone else.

The name Rivolta was also used for one of the models produced by ISO, an Italian maker of performance cars of the 60s & 70s, using large & robust American V8s in locally designed (usually by Giugiaro) & built coachwork at their factory in Bresso, Italy. So, Revolta may not be such a revolting choice after all

Since the wiring will be drawn from one's house, all they have to do is keep a switch for the power outlet inside the house.

Another idea would be install solar charging bays in apartments.

OR install solar panels in the body of the vehicle itself.

Of course. I didn't think about it at all. Thanks for pointing it out.

Contentious choice of name aside, wish they would have spend a little more effort on the products.

Surely, if you can afford a stall at the expo, you can afford the right size hole saw to mount the Alibaba sourced headlights you are going to put on your display product.

Is there a picture with the disc brake on the wheel? From the levers it looks like cable actuated. Is it purely mechanical, or cable-actuated hydraulic?

Cheers

I find the Magic box concept very innovative. It will be a boon to the E retail delivery boys.

Magic Box Concept-
I saw these first hand at the Expo, and right then and there, I was wondering how practicable it would be for any Rider, to handle the vehicle, with the 100+ kg load up front. While the concept might look enticing, I don't think this design will find many takers, due to safety and handling issues.

But we must remember that getting petrol/diesel from Crude oil is also energy consuming and it generates it's own emissions.

Re: Revolta Motors @ Auto Expo 2016

We have seen all sorts of loads being carried on the fuel tanks of motorbikes and on the foot boards of scooters. Some of these loads are huge in size and look precariously balanced. And yet the riders seem to carry on famously, day in and day out. This magic box concept is surely an improvement on that.
