Something has gone amiss while sorting data. Average price for bikes has mismatches e.g. Jupiter can't be priced at 90k, Avenger can't be at 7.6L, Hero glamour at 99k; RE classic 350 at 42k et al.

And doesn't it have to be 'Avenger 220' in all tables/charts, hasn't Avenger 200 been phased out long back?

Note from Mod: Thanks. a4anurag has updated the charts to correct this.

Re: October 2016: Two Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis

No. of Mopeds that TVS sells every month is mind boggling.

Around 80K in Oct!!! That too when there is ZERO competition.

Re: October 2016: Two Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis

Great compilation. It's interesting to see the volumes, especially when you compare it to the 4-wheeler figures.
Call me stupid, but I didn't realize that TVS still makes mopeds. I googled the picture of TVS XL, and found that it still carries the resemblance with the TVS 50 that we had around 30 years back!!

Mopeds actually account for 1/3rd of TVS Sales..!!

Re: October 2016: Two Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis

Amazing compilation and analysis. Loved reading through the figures and trying to match them with the impressions in my mind

2 questions

1- Ninja 650 total sales are Bajaj Ninja 650 + Kawasaki Ninja 650?
2- Who is buying 75000 Hero Glamours every month? It's been years since I saw brand new Glamour without a temporary registration. I have seen new TVS Mopeds but never a new Glamour

oh and mind boggling Activa Sales. Hero Motocorp needs to being out a revolutionary new product and do to Honda what Honda did to Kinetic.

Re: October 2016: Two Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis

I was wondering why Activa had such a lousy month in Oct; then noticed that the sales in Oct are similar to those in Aug. So, Sept was a spike. Any idea why the -16% difference between Sept and Oct. For the kind of numbers that Activa plays in, it is a noteworthy difference.

Also, can we expect drastic movements in the Nov chart considering the demonetisation drive.

Those are "Glamour + Super Splendor" numbers.

I have observed that popularity of Glamour & Super Splendor isn't a pan India phenomena like Splendor or Activa.. but more region specific.

For example, in Assam the Glamour is the Splendor of that state.. all one can see if Glamour's plying around everywhere in Assam..!!

The sales of XL Super picked-up recently after the introduction of 4-Stroke motor - earlier the sales were in the 50K+ levels and now increased to the range of 75K-80K.

But yeah, it still retains the same resemblance of the older models and may be that might be the reason for the volume of sales

Few observations -

1. Splendor has managed to overtake Activa after a very long time, but I think the Activa's sales this month is just a blip.

2. Platina breached the 50K mark for the 1st time this year and Pulsar 150 is almost there - may be the new facelift will get them there?

3. Dio is doing good numbers in the recent months. Honda must be happy that Activa + Dio combination alone outsells every other manufacturer's cumulative sales of all vehicles, except Hero Motocorp. But, during Sep '16 Activa alone was able to do that. But their bikes, especially Hornet, are having a disappointing run.

4. Decent start to Aprilia SR 150, but it should pick-up in the future considering the very good pricing for the scooter. Saw one in my office campus and it's drool worthy.

5. Jupiter sales is on a rise consistently which should make TVS happier along with great numbers of XL Super and good numbers of Apache sold.

6. R15 sales is on a roll recently which is good considering its segment.

Re: October 2016: Two Wheeler Sales Figures & Analysis

Has UM Started selling its bikes yet? Saw a renegade with temporary registration in Gurgaon recently. There are no ownership reviews yet for any bikes from this brand.
This brand is nowhere to be seen in the list. It should be selling more than Triumph anyway.
Spotted one minor mistake in the list, the Continental GT has been marked in 250-500cc segment, technically it is 535cc which would make it a >500cc bike.

Strike at plant around that period.
