Ashwin, most of your gripes have been attended to in record time by ktm.i would not worry about bash plates, you will find enough aluminum options in the market within a month of launch.

I don't know if the xpulse makes sense anymore at all. Hope this bike is not over 165 kgs tops.

XPulse definitely holds a chance. Pricing will be its strong point if the product is well sorted out. It will probably cost only a third of what the 390 Adv might be! Just guessing!

I think the Xpulse makes a very strong case for itself. Recent reports in the news and websites state it'll cost just about equal to or less than 1 lac Ex-showroom Delhi.

That's a great indicated price for a bike that'll be simple and robust enough for daily as well as Off Road use I feel. Plus with the added features it has I think it makes a very strong case for itself. Time will tell and lets hope Hero can pull something magical out of its hat with the Xpulse.

Hero is known to make reliable, abuse friendly motorcycles. Maybe because they get their DNA from Honda. Though, after the famous split, Hero hasn't really unveiled any noteworthy products - it's just one iteration after another of the same platform, with a new sticker job each time.

The XPulse, with a 200 CC engine and 18BHP / 17Nm shows promise. The fact that it shares its engine (and possibly the drive-train) with the Extreme 200 will help keep costs down. Hopefully, their previous experience with the Impulse has also helped Hero in designing a light, abuse friendly , nimble, mechanically uncomplicated, go anywhere adventure bike.

While XPulse may not be a contender in the real sense to 390 Adventure, those looking for a (significantly) cheaper package will definitely be swayed towards XPulse. That's something KTM has to watch out for.

After 5 years of long wait, the 390 adventure seems like reality which is not very far. The light-weight adventure segment is hotting up with plenty of product options from baby gs to xpulse , Himalayan, Versys 300X and now this. Going by KTM's pedigree, am sure we will have a capable bike there, perfectly suited for our conditions. Not to mention the wide service network and affordable spares. My plan of buying the baby GS is under threat now, as the 390adv will most likely have better equipment with ride by wire, tft smart screen, slipper clutch, and 10 extra ponies. A test ride of baby GS and the price @which it is launch will be crucial to make or break the deal. Other options is to get the xpulse until the 390adv is launched. Any info on when the xpulse is expected to be launched? Time is what i do not have.



By when can we except the 390 adv to be available for sale?

Bingo. Yeah that's what I was trying to say there. You can't really compare the Xpulse and 390DukeADV but there's no denying the fact that the Xpulse will cost much less and will be a rugged, nimble ride that can definitely push people towards it. Heck I myself am personally looking forward to the Xpulse launch and a test ride to wait see what it's like.

I seriously doubt the ADV coming in the same D390 engine tune, the D390 has no power below 4k rpm, only above, it comes to life. The ADV has to have good low and mid range. I wont be surprised if it comes in the Dominor state of tune.

True, but also the weight of this ADV might not be all that different from the 390 either. The extra fairings seem to be small and will mostly be made of clear light plastics as in the RC top half too.

So it might not need as much detuning as the heavy Dominar.

I doubt it looks comfortable - maybe because the pillion rider is on the smaller side.
The underwear grabrails are definitely not comfortable - hope they get proper size grabrails.
Good to see they have the TFT screen. Hope they have resolved the issues with the screen too.

Realistically I am hoping for:

• Better shockers
• Better and more comfortable seat
• Larger tank - atleast 300km range
• More upright seating

For all the talk of engine tuning, I don't think any big changes are possible for the long stroke, high compression engine of 390.
And please atleast a variant for tubeless tires.

So its almost time. My Instagram feed seems to suggest KTM is gonna reveal the 790 Duke as well as the the 390 Adventure during the EICMA show, 6th to 11th November. I cant find any credible sources online yet, and was hoping to find something on the forum, no luck with that clearly.
