Well, well, well...look who's crashing the party: http://www.cycleworld.com/spied-new-...src=SOC#page-3

If there's a separate thread for the Duke 390 ADV, please do move this there. If not...create one please!

Looks beautiful...makes me wanna cry!

Wow this is news !

After so many rumours, it is now official. The KTM 390 Adventure is definitely in the pipeline. Interesting times ahead for the touring junta with BMW G310GS, Kawasaki Versys X-300 and KTM 390 Adventure as prospective options in the near future. clap:

I REALLY think, just looking at the snaps, the 390 ADV just blows the hell out of every other mini-adv bike that's been launched there. Ground clearance, suspension travel, wire wheels, 19 incher upfront, straight seat (hate the stepped versions), Just look at those enduro style headlamps - straight out of dakar!

Unlike the others - this WILL come to India. Its a bloody given.

This is one motorbike that is definitely making way into my garage. Have put a full stop to all versys related accessories LOL.

I was almost fixed on purchasing a tiger 800, after having given up on any concrete info about the the 390 ADV, until KTM did the 2019 announcement. And now with these spyshots emerging I am extremely happy to wait. Its gonna be well worth it. <3

Article says 2018 launch though, I'll name my first born Mattighofen if they launch it in 2017.lol:

You will do WELL to wait. After having purchased the versys and run about 16k kms in the past 6 months, what we need today is a lightweight adv weapon - which the versys is not. This KTM is like a sniper - designed to do one thing and one thing only - OVERLAND!

If you are still keen on a tiger, go for a used example to tide over the next two years and the big boy's toy wet dream fantasy (yes, i got sucked into that blackhole myself, and ruing the cost of spares/accessories/what not), and trade down to the adv when it comes. All these bigger ADV bikes just dont go places unless you are built like hogan or have the skills of toby.

2017 EICMA; 2018 Launch is my prediction. The bike looks too well finished in the pictures (there's a bloody rock/sump guard for heaven's sake) to warrant two more years of R&D, and by that time the triad of BWM/Kawi/and Zuki would have taken a solid march on global bookings and euphoria. I think KTM has realized they were caught napping BIG time and are accelerating development on this machine. They KNOW there are a LOT of people waiting for KTM to launch this samurai sword. lol:

A solid purchase is probably going to be in 2019 for those who are patient enough to wait out the 1st model year and resulting issues. Bring it on KTM!!!

Just blown away by this. This is everything you would expect from an Enduro from KTM. A no compromise thoroughbred! Just look how tall the instrument console is sitting. Reminds me of the Honda CRF450 Rally (Could be some test equipment too)!

Its gonna be a long wait people.

Wow, Wow and again Wow - this is something straight out of my dreams and I am happy to wait for this.

The bike looks perfect and has everything an adventure bike needs - I love those headlights, petal discs and the fact that it comes with good old wire wheels - no more nightmares of broken alloy wheels.

Looks like they are benchmarking it against the BMW G310R for now. Pretty sure the BMW G310 GS will be up next. :)

I think thats a Honda CB500F, I could be wrong.

EDIT: I was mistaken on a smartphone screen, looking at it on the desktop now and it does look like the g310 GS.

Sorry for the newbie question, but what are the advantages of a adventure bike? Are these equally comfortable like a tourer bike with the additional (bit) off-roading?

This one looks to be a PROPER Adventure bike, and not just a street bike with slightly raised suspension and artificially puffed up plastic bodywork.

The suspension, spokes wheels all points towards a off road focused machine.

Adventure bikes are basically On/Off road Bikes but with long distance capability with comfort (larger fuel tanks, heavier body compared to light weight off road bikes).

Don't think its a 310 GS, because -

a) Its got silver forks (310GS has black)
b) The axle bolt is mounted differently along the tube outer surface (310GS has it at the end of the fork tube) - See the Impluse's front axle bolt positioning in the picture below to get some clarity about what I'm saying. This is quite typical of most dirt oriented bikes IIRC.

PS: It isn't a Honda CB500F/X either for the same reasons as mentioned above.

I believe, this could instead be another variant of the 390ADV platform.

Maybe we're all overthinking this one? haha. The guy who was shooting the pictures would most definitely have taken shots of the bike in the background if it was seemingly interesting - he seemed quite close to all the action. But he didn't.

I think it's some random dude out on a morning ride of his own...and has no idea he's famous. :D

Either that or its someone accompanying the test machine on some other random cycle that's already around and doesnt seem worthy of attention to Cycleworld.

Continuing the spirit of the Adventure, here's a very beautifully shot video of the 390 Adventure's bigger brothers -

Hoping the 390 Adventure continues the tradition! Will definitely be a popular bike to take to Leh-Ladakh.
