Re: Bajaj launches Dominar 400 at Rs. 1.36 lakh (Disc brake variant) & Rs. 1.5 lakh (ABS variant)

I've booked a Twilight plum. Is it possible or has anyone tried to remove that default tankpad and perhaps replace it with a better quality, more functional one?

Possible? Why not? I intend to put a better tankpad too, haven't yet searched for one yet (that's the easy part), but concerned about the glue remaining after removal.

But what type of front disc brakes are supplied here.
Single piston caliper floating for four piston caliper fixed ?
Standard 320mm stainless steel rotor (not petal/wave type), two piston floating calliper.

A couple of headlamp images taken on cellphone, please excuse the poor grainy quality. Low beam compares better in dry conditions, against the P220 low beam, with better spread and localized intensity, but doesn't quite put the P220 to shame.

High beam appears less markedly improved, if at all since my 8+ year old Osram bulbs have lost a tiny wee bit of brightness and bulbs differ by brand; the Dominar's spread seems better , intensity in some spots looks better. Objects on the road may be illuminated better at mid-distance, whereas the imaginary focal plane approx 100m away has the median and a pole , which barely lit up. The Pulsar 220 with a narrower high beam isn't much better at lighting the media and pole but potentially better at lighting up objects in the narrower cone in front of you. The P220 beam was slightly offset due to imperfectly fitting fairing. The Dominar's lights seem to have EU-style "handedness" , with the beam seemingly cut off to the right, but illuminating the shrubbery to the left. Not happy about that.

Low beam

Nice reading such positive reviews this far that has stroked some serious interest ....So I've booked my Dominar 400 (white) online on 24th Jan...Have chosen Jai Bajaj Adayar in chennai as the dealer and have been logging every day since to see the status of my delivery to find it just say delivery is in Feb. Any thoughts on what the delivery timelines look like now (if booked the second week of Jan and onwards) ?

Can't wait to get my hands on it (!) and have been pestering the Dealership folks frequently (last two days that is). They say would take 20-25 days ...

Owners please also do mention about any vibrations.

Although the Moto Vloggers find the Dominar very smooth, Professional Publications have mentioned about some vibrations in their reviews.

I saw only one review on Facebook that mentioned vibrations between 4k-8.5k rpm. But going from an enfield, I'm sure I won't mind. Come to think of it, even my Cbr 250 had vibrations in the handlebars over 90kmph. But nothing unbearable.

I just returned from a quick Lavasa blast and I did not feel any vibrations whatsoever, even in the higher part of the rev-range. It just ran like a dream, and was stable and balanced through the corners.

Could you touch base on every other aspects too, a bit more in detail?

Congratulations Ricci. So when do we ride Lavassa ???

Sahyadri Moto has come up with a bunch of accessories for the Dominar 400 that bring out the tourer in it.

What's the tablet kind of thing they have on the inside of the windshield? Did they move the display up there? Or is it something different?

Appears more like a Cell-phone mount right atop the LCD display. Seems like one has to trade Navigation for vehicle stats in terms of visibility.

Mod Note: Our Dominar 400 report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion on the new thread. Thanks!

Definitely a cellphone mount. But looks like it just might have left a window for the Lcd to be visible.
