Benelli TNT 135 spotted testing in Pune

The Benelli TNT 135 has recently been spotted testing in Pune. This is the first time that the small-capacity motorcycle has been spotted on public roads in the country. It was earlier showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida.

The TNT 135 is a mini bike which is powered by a 134.7 cc, single-cylinder engine that is rated at 12.6 BHP and 10.8 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension setup includes inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes on both wheels.

The bike has a seat height of 780 mm, a ground clearance of 160 mm and a fuel tank capacity of 7.2-litre. The TNT 135 tips the weighing scale at 121 kg. It gets Benelli's characteristic design elements like a chiselled fuel tank and an exposed trellis frame. The bike rolls on 12-inch tyres at the front as well as rear. Dimensionally, the bike is pretty similar to the Honda Navi, which has a seat height of 765 mm.

Benelli is expected to launch the TNT 135 in India by March 2017. At the moment, there is no head-on competitor for this bike in the Indian market.

Wow, that bike is small! Slightly bigger than the Honda Navi!

It will be interesting to see how the market reacts to this bike when it is launched. With Indian buyers looking for the most out of their buck, the size of the bike may be a disadvantage.

Is that an Ixil exhaust on the bike?

Doesn't the design seem copied from the MV Agusta Brutale?

As demonstrated in the pictures posted by John, this is the standard exhaust.

Btw, has anyone ever used these bikes and has an opinion to share as to how better/worse do they feel compared to the normal sized motorcycles of similar engine capacity?

I drove something similar (rented during a vacation) when I was in Thailand, however couldn't see the point.

Great we finally have something close to the Grom. These things are impractical but absolute hoot to ride.
Similar to the Navi, actually more fun and huge smile factor. The perfect hooning bike which the cops will probably faint laughing at before they think of ticketing.

Who rides a 125cc normal bike for fun? I think this is more fun and safer then riding my D390 through traffic, anything is more fun than riding a D390 through traffic.

Re: Benelli TNT 135 spotted testing in Pune

If any of you guys follow the YouTube Channel 'RoyalJordanian', he sometimes uses the bike Honda MSX125 aka Grom with a full Akrapovic titanium carbon exhaust. It sounds absolutely fantastic! It gets a lot of looks even in the streets of London and is very fun to ride as well in the city.

Benelli might just hit this sweet spot if it prices the TNT-135 correctly. I love this kinds of bikes. I wanted to buy the Navi when I first saw it, but it is terribly underpowered, small, cheap build and very basic instrument cluster put me off. If this succeeds somewhat, it might force Honda to bring in the Grom!

I can definitely see the point for a Navi, with CVT transmission, proven Activa mechanicals and a vast spares and service network. That too at a very tempting price tag of 40k.

The question is, with USD Forks and an Fi engine, how much would DSK be able to offer the TNT 135 for?

Also for a city / fun roundabout, a CVT transmission seems to be more fun/practical

The Grom will never be on sale in India. It costs 1.35 lakhs ex showroom in its country of manufacture(Thailand). This Benelli might cost nearly a lakh in India.
