re: Yamaha teases new naked motorcycle. EDIT: FZ25 launched at Rs. 1.20 lakh

The bike in appearence is ok, but the engine is a disappointment, at least from what one sees.

Let us wait for the spec sheet.

It's going to be an overpriced FZ for rich yamaha fans who want to stick out from the current sea of FZ16's and FZS's. With such talented competition such as the duke 200, and now the dominar, honestly there is nothing to look forward to but a me too product with neither features, performance, looks or pricing to write home about.

....But, try surprising us yamaha!

Yamaha FZ 250 Launched.
Priced at 1,19,500/- ex showroom Delhi
No ABS
Their reasoning is Price. I dont understand why a company like Yamaha would skimp on a safety feature at Launch but would add it later as it becomes a compulsory norm.

Well we got the surprise that we were waiting for.

But now what happens to R15 V3 if it is launched. Would a full fairing and a 100cc lesser engine warrant a price hike?

There is a cooler for the oil separately. The engine/cylinder block is still Cooled by Air.

Can't help thinking that the bike is a few years later in India.

Nevertheless better late than never.

Guess the R15 V3.. recently launched in Indonesia will get to India as well.. and might replace the R15 V2. It's got slightly bigger engine with 20Ps power and a Slipper clutch.

If it's launched then we can expect a price hike as well... But even the new R15 has NO ABS

re: Yamaha teases new naked motorcycle. EDIT: FZ25 launched at Rs. 1.20 lakh

From what I have heard till now - ABS and FI are standard. The pricing is spot on - 1,19,500 (ex. showroom Delhi) for a 250CC Yamaha. Though I am bit disappoint at power figures of 20.9 PS . My RTR 2004V also has close to same output in 50 CC less. Overall I liked the bike and pricing.

This probably is going to be a real multi-purpose(Jack of all trades) bike with no-nonsense mechanicals and Japanese reliability.
Though the bike is priced well for a Yamaha, the absence of ABS will surely be a bummer for the sales. It should at least have been optional.

Probably you forgot to mention that it's going to be called FZ25. It comes with a 249cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled FI motor that can produce 20.9hp at 8000rpm and 20Nm at 6000rpm.

Few more updates:

Offers -

LCD instrument console
Rear 220mm disc brake

Yamaha India aims to sell 4-5000 units per month, the bike will be available in three colour options - Knight Black, Ballistic Blue, Warrior White with aim of targeting the urban young adults in their 20s and 30s with multi-purpose usage for the bike.

You sure about ABS?

Because there were no ABS rings on the test bikes

re: Yamaha teases new naked motorcycle. EDIT: FZ25 launched at Rs. 1.20 lakh

The torque output is disappointing. 23-24 Nm from a 250cc block is not unreasonable. That would have bumped up the power rating by a couple of horses. Yamaha should have at least given it a 6 speed gearbox that allows 100 km/h cruising at 6-7k RPM.

The specs are very close to RTR 200. Max 10k premium over a corresponding RTR variant would have been acceptable considering Yamaha reliability and peace of mind & hassle free ownership.
At the current price, it will land in between RTR 200 and Dominar with Duke 200 and R15 trying to pinch it. Hope it has ABS as standard.

And the over 3 lakh R3 won't have ABS even as an option in India

Doesn't exactly make sense

re: Yamaha teases new naked motorcycle. EDIT: FZ25 launched at Rs. 1.20 lakh

I have been on the lookout for an upgrade on my FZ16 for sometime now and I was really hoping to stick to Yamaha with the FZ 25, but quite disappointed with the launch

A Honda CBR 250R gets over 26HP and the Yamaha only managed about 20HP from a similar displacement??

OT - I will probably hold on until the "Rumoured" CBR 250RR is launched in India now.
