re: The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3. EDIT: Launched in India at Rs. 1.25 lakhs

I had a brief chat with one of the Marketing Manager (Kerala) during the recent Yamaha Bash in Bangalore and they have received the V3 version (just one bike from Indonesia). He had test ridden the bike in some restricted track and he said the bike power slides through the gears. He also confirmed that the Indian version will have some significant change in height due to road conditions, might expect some changes in the FI and finally, Indian version will go through some detune : Frustrati

I fail to understand why do they have to detune the bike? The fuel quality isn't that bad in India and as far as weather and other factors are concerned, they are probably the same as in Indonesia.

Yes, agreed with you. When we have mental KTM then why not blistering R15. I just remember something he was discussing FI specifically. I might be wrong but the Indonesian version has about 21 tiny injectors and Indian version might have only 16 . Also, he mentioned something about the electronic unit (can't recall what he called it) which will not be available for the Indian version.

21 and 16 May be injector pound capacity? and the electronic unit you say is the o2 sensor for closed loop.

Do not detune.

re: The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3. EDIT: Launched in India at Rs. 1.25 lakhs

The Yamaha YZF R15 v3.0 is now spotted in India.

The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3. EDIT: Launched in India at Rs. 1.25 lakhs-imageresizer.jpg

The observations of Autocar India are quoted below.
Quote:
Split headlamps (LED in international markets, India spec is unconfirmed) separated by a large intake make up the face while the side gets sharp bodywork. The fairing has been redesigned, with the fuel tank now at 11 litres as against the v2.0’s 12 litres. And, unlike its predecessor that had an analogue tachometer, the v3.0's instrument cluster is now fully digital. At the rear, the R1/R6-style hollowed out tail section is sure to find many fans and the pillion seat is noticeably lower than the R15 v2, something which should also find appreciation.

The new R15 v3.0 is running conventional front forks instead of the more premium upside-down ones seen on the international-spec bike. The bike spied was also using MRF tyres and not the IRC ones seen on the Indonesian-spec bike. The spy image also clearly shows that the bike lacks ABS, but so does the international model. This tells us that Yamaha is most likely going to launch the motorcycle before April 2018, because, according to the upcoming regulations, it is mandatory for manufacturers to equip all bike models above 125cc with ABS, for the launches planned on or after April 1, 2018. Existing models will, however, have a deadline of April 1, 2019, to get equipped with the feature.

In the spy shot, the new bike’s engine appears to be different to that of the current R15. This means that we are likely to get the new 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine from the international spec bike. However, this motor features Yamaha's Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system which helps it make 19.3hp and 14.7Nm of torque. Graphics along the side read "VVA Variable Valve Actuation', which puts to rest previous speculation of whether Yamaha would launch the engine as is, or with a simpler (read lower cost) version without the VVA system.

Expect a launch within a month or two, with the Yamaha YZF R15 v3.0 to be priced slightly higher than the v2.0, which currently sells for Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

re: The 2017 Yamaha R15 V3. EDIT: Launched in India at Rs. 1.25 lakhs

New Yamaha R15 V3 arrives at dealer – Launch in January 2018
It is spotted for the first time with road ready stickers and dual tone matte red and grey livery.
From the spy images, it is clear that the India-spec R15 V3 gets regular front forks, and not the upside-down (USD) forks which are on sale with international-spec R15 V3. It also misses out on the ABS. Then there is the same V2 like front fender, instead of the broader and more sportier fender of the V3. Tyres are from MRF, instead of the IRC tyres which we have seen on the international spec V3. Foot pegs are same as V2, and not the aluminium assembly. Even the slipper clutch is not expected to be featured.

Any updates on the release date? It was expected to launch on 8th January and there seems to be no sight of the bike anywhere on the Yamaha website as well.

With ABS being a compulsion from next year, we will have a refreshed model in a year's time. Not sure why Yamaha decided on skipping ABS in this launch itself. Disheartening to see major manufacturers skimmping on necessary safety features just to add more sales numbers.

Seems the bike is priced @ 1,42,xxx/- OTR Chennai. The Adyar dealer hasn't received the test ride bike nor any deliveries yet.

Frankly speaking, it would be pointless anyway to see updated variants with single channel abs on the front wheel. While it adds to the safety, it will also add a good 15-20 grand to any motorcycle price. Priced at almost 1.5lacs on-road, this would push the R15 V3 in a pricey category where other motorcycles seem like a much better deal with added engine capacity and performance.

That said, I love the way this motorcycle looks with those beefy tyres and front headlight design. Perfect machine for learning to live with a supersport machine. I hope the LEDs are better on this one as compared to the FZ25. Loved the engine tech, the power curves and slipper clutch on this smaller motorcycle. Would definitely come in handy for a track day should one ever desire to explore its capabilities on a track.

https://www.motorbeam.com/yamaha-r15...l-channel/amp/

Finally the ABS version is being shipped to dealers, good to see dual channel abs used. Price increase of around 12000.

They should have launched the bike with ABS initially itself, a premium of 12k for one of the biggest safety feature should not be skimmped to achieve Bigger sales number.
