Hi,
I am thinking of buying this bike somewhere in Oct as I want to see how the electronics and especially the secondary display holds in monsoon. The existing owners must have had a wash of the bike, did anyone observe any leakage or damage to the display, both the speedo and secondary one ?
Any updates of any changes being done by Bajaj on the issues and complaints made by owners which they are going to fix in the next batch of these bikes ? any additional add-ons being given to next lot coming out during the festive season ?

So I finally managed to put together the 5K KMS review of the Dominar. Hope you will like it. |
Nice crisp video review, liked it very much clap: Quite honest and unbiased. You did not just harp on its strengths, but highlighted its weaknesses without any prejudice.
Here's wishing you all the very best for your future trips.:thumbs up

You're most welcome. Venture on various trips and share with us your travelogues/ videos.
I am keenly following all quarter litre + bike threads. The Yamaha FZ25, Dominar, TVS Akula/RTR 310, BMW G310R etc. I want to bring home one of these bikes in the second half on 2017 and get rid of my aging 1999 Bajaj Caliber which is gathering dust for the past several months.
My bike's usage will be 50% for incity riding and 50% for visiting nearby places in the radius of 200-300 kms. I am not restricting myself to any specific brand, capacity. power/torque and not even budget. Which one of the above bikes will be most suitable for my requirements? Are there any other bikes in contention/that I can consider beyond the ones listed above?

No offence, but my personal take is they screwed up a clean beautiful design.:Frustrati

If i would have been your place, where i must have to use bike in the city (Blore), then i would still go for a Dominar instead of a Duke 390, and buy myself a Scooty Pep+ :) for the city runs. I found it to be stupid to be riding in a city like bangalore, where the bike just gets worn out so fast.
You still may want to consider the Yamaha R3, Naked Ninja (Z3), Himalayan, Mojo. And believe me no matter what anyone says your bum, hands and head should feel comfortable before you sign the dotted line.

None taken :). I have just reported about the availability of the kit.
However, design of Bajaj bikes right from Pulsar is inspired from iconic bikes.
My personal take - I only like subtle or practical mods. :)
Since some have already covered 5k kms on the Dominar, how has the quality and reliability related experience been so far?
Oil/ coolant leaks, oil seals, electronics, gearbox, service quality... etc? Also, if you were to compare this with lets say a Yamaha FZ 25 ( irrespective of its lower displacement) how would it fare?

I had the headlamp beam adjuster failure, was replaced under warranty. Had a bulge on the front tyre, replaced under warranty. Service quality has been terrific.
Nothing else to write about.

Any issue with Vibrations?
Understand that the service experience has been good so far. But how has been the ownership/ride experience so far?

Vibes have gone down consistently with every 500 kms added. Ride experience has been good enough for me to trust the Dominar to take it on the #DominateK2K ride in 2 weeks time. It has its own quirks like a turning radius as big as an Alto, fuel tank range as small as a 600 cc. But overall very competent, comfortable and reassuring machine to tour.
Booked Plum color ABS Variant Dominar yesterday @ Amba Bajaj Hosur Road.
Dealership experience was good. They provided 2 test rides, were supportive enough to have allowed solo ride, and patient enough to answer all my queries.
I am going for PDI tomorrow, post which full payment and other formalities will follow.
Will keep you all posted.
My mindset - Its a compromise for me, as I had targeted ER6N (now Z650) but had to revise my decision due to some commitment. But nevertheless I have made up my mind now, and excited about this upgrade after riding my Avenger 180 for good 12 years! Writeup coming soon...
Booked white as it was the only color which shows the bike's true character,
dewan bajaj, Lajpat Nagar, Delhi are quoting.. 1.71 lacs...
shortest test ride in my history of existence :p
a little arrogance too, but all ok...
Dad will finalize the color, picking it next weekend.
Upgrading from T500, loving the same level of comfort & torquey engine.
Just got a Dominar 400 ABS. Wanted to know from fellow owners, how does one remove the saree guard? The nuts inside the swing arm look permanently fixed and the access to the bolt is blocked off.
