Bajaj Dominar 400 spotted in new matte black colour

Bajaj Auto's flagship motorcycle - the Dominar 400 has been spotted at what looks like a dealer stockyard in India. The bike, which was launched in December 2016, is currently available in just three colours - Midnight Blue, Twilight Plum and Moon White. As a result, there is a possibility of a new matte black colour scheme being introduced to the bike's palette.

Show me a Speedo which doesn't. From what I know, auto companies are given a (+/-) 10% Error Margin.

The 2007-09 batch of Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi models had the most accurate speedo (around 99% accuracy from what I can recall) till date.

By law, everywhere, the allowable speedo error is -0% to +10%. Speedometers are not all allowed to under-report the speed for safety reasons.

re: Ridden: Bajaj Dominar 400

I think I saw the first Dominar a couple of days back - was the PLUM color. The bike definitely looked B-I-G! That's when I realised that I haven't really seen a lot of these since launch. That's strange, to put it mild. Are they not delivering high volumes at all that I can't find it common in a metro like Chennai!

re: Ridden: Bajaj Dominar 400

So,
In continuation with my last post,
Dad finally approved twilight plum color, as it looked great in person.

The 3 layer paint shine was just pleasing to the eyes.

Took delivery before GST implementation, paid 1.71 cash OTR (DELHI)

Power delivery is linear and addictive (being a lazy TBTS500 owner)

Some parts are cheap, like the tank pad (already coming loose).

2nd service is done (odo is hovering around 5k now)

Overall, an excellent value for money,
and all-rounder machine (can bring groceries/ do tours/ gym/ misc)

re: Ridden: Bajaj Dominar 400

Just came across this article on Rushlane, One chunk of alloy has come out. Owner claim that it came off during plain tarmac riding, bajaj claims it was due to bike being abused. Dominar is definitely getting quite a bit of issues around QC, and what is more disturbing is the fact that Bajaj says they do not have the parts to fix the issue with ETA of 2 Months.

re: Ridden: Bajaj Dominar 400

Everytime something falls off the bike, the manufacturer blames the operator/ rider.

Honestly I have never seen alloy wheel rims chip-off like that...they do bend and warp but not break off.

Maybe it's the inferior materials used by the manufacturer as I remember the 390 and 200 had both such issues amongst others.

Am not taking sides.

But is a consumer always "Honest"? I know friends who gave faked accidents for insurance claims

I agree being an owner myself, I am quite keen at noticing other Dominars on the road. Here in Vadodara the dealer told me back in February when I took delivery that he had sold 20 odd Dominars. Thing is I have seen maybe 5 or 6 since then on the streets.

I think the initial hype has died down and people are waiting for Bajaj to get rid of the issues like they usually do in the next iteration.

I have experienced road impacts at high speeds ( excess of 100 kmph) on my motorbikes but in all cases I have experienced, unless you have a head-on impact, the rim doesn't chip-off like that.

I'm no metallurgist but poorly built stuff chips off like that. Same goes to brake levers and foot-pegs.

You can count me to be one of those keen observers.

By the way, are there any issues with your bike?

re: Ridden: Bajaj Dominar 400

Have not been active on this thread, but can't say the same for my bike . I have done close to 6500 km from March onwards and very happy with the bike. No major issues but the regular ones like power lag, which I don't bother much with.

Only that all the indicator lights are fogged and SC has agreed to replace.

I have been doing regularly at least two rides a month, both BF rides and day long rides with Dominar Owners Club Bengaluru and very happy with the performance of the bike. I am done with my report for now .
