Any idea on how to enter bike racing? No one in the car racing circuit seems to have any clue! And does bike racing in India make any sense?
After all, only production bikes r used and none of them r designed for racing.

How abt other asian racing series?

First of all, thank your starts because you live in Chennai.

If you are into bike racing, best way to start is the TVS rent a racebike scheme which lets you ride their FIEROs for a reasonable price. After that you can move up based on your comfort level.

The Malaysian local racing scene is really happening now with 4 Chennai riders competing in various series. The 125 cc underbone is the most popular class.

Not sure about racing schools, but I'm sure there are some in Malaysia. Check with either MMSC or FMSCI.

TVS Race a bike scheme is a good way to get a feeler of the track.
you can rent a fiero or a victor for the weekend and ride around.

But if ur gonna hit the track, make sure you are kitted up properly - jacket, pants (or complete racing gear), boots, gloves and helmets. Don't use any vega-shega, buy a GPone.

If you are serious about championship runs, then u have two choices. Gp.D RX135 (stock class) and Gp.D 150cc four stroke class (fiero, apache, CBZ, blah, blah...).
It's a good way to have fun, but takes a lot of dedication in the form of time and money, and with the scrutiny levels at our race track being what they are, especially for the bike races, stock is not exactly the word for most of the bikes in that class.

there's more to it. Hope this helps for now.

Well, the last race is this weekend, right? Ive booked a seat for a race-a-bike but really doubt i can make it. Plus i dont have the leathers yet so i dont see the point. I'll have to wait for the next season,

One of the reasons i want to shift to bikes is coz its a lot cheaper than cars! Plus, they seem a lot more fun. One question? Will my height (6ft2')be a problem? (Coz thats what Mr.Abdullah told my dad. )

Oh, then i think i'll give it a shot. Think i'll wait till the Racing season gets over though. Probably try out some testing abroad if finances permit. :-)

Thanks a bunch!

Is there any bike racing schools like Akbar Ebrahim is doing for cars? I heard that 2 ex races (brothers...cant think of the name) had set up some kind of academy.
